I think these are one of the most beautiful butterflies, and in my experience one of the most difficult to photograph, usually they fly off when you get anywhere near them. This one was sitting on my bunny garden statue and stayed there for quite a while, he even let me bring a chair over quite close and I took many photos of him.

The southern subspecies of these butterflies (Precis octavia sesamus) is found from the border region of the Eastern and Western Cape in South Africa and along the eastern side of South Africa to Swaziland, Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenya.
