When I returned to the area near the canopy tower (a sort of meeting point) I discovered that most of the others had stayed here as there were several butterflies here too. That is why many never got to the spot with the fruiting tree. This was the most spectacular, though sadly a damaged specimen. It was not seen at any other time and some had been taking photos of it for a while. I am glad to have got both a ventral and dorsal view, even though it has damage.
This species was seen nowhere else by me. Other tegosas were seen but almost always with wings open and I have no record of this butterfly with wings open. I do however like the photo.
this species was very common throughout our four day trip to NW NSW. Could'nt find it in my only butterfly book (Australian Butterflies in Colour, Burns & Rotherham, 1980). Help with ID appreciated ? :)
These guys have finally arrived in my butterfly garden. Every now and then I would see them flutter by, but they would never light where I could get a picture of them. Now they are so "tame" I have to keep backing up to get all of the butterfly in the frame. This was uncropped!

Kennst jemand vielleicht diese Schmetterlingsart? Ich habe ihn bei einem Waldspaziergang aufgenommen.
Vielen Dank an Janet - es ist ein Waldbrettspiel - Pararge aegeria.
Went to Franklin Park with my daughter the other day - my camera battery died soon after we got there, but I managed to get a few good shots...
This is a closeup of the one on the giant leaf in the previous photo. Not really sure what this one is - didn't see the other side of its wings...
