200 lei was about ten cents at the time. You would validate these aboard the bus. Each bus had a special pattern of punches and there were random spot checks to see if you had validated your ticket

TOP: Front and rear of Willebrew tickets, most likely for the longer Ulverston via Dalton (jointly with Ribble) and Ulverston via Coast Road services. The single ticket ranges from 1d to 1/7d and the return ranges up to 3/0d.
The issuing of Willebrew tickets was somewhat labour intensive and needed to be precisely clipped - certainly not the ideal ticketing system to use on a heavily loaded "Shipyard Special" !

Two Southdown Motor Services Setright bus tickets that were issued to us on the Eastbourne vintage bus running day on 01/08/10.
A number of the Setright tickets found on our preserved YJG 807 in 1995 had local and not so local advertising on their backs. Again purely for the record and for my fellow East Kent enthusiasts here are a selection,

Costing nine times the single journey fare, the ticket would be inserted into the front of a Setright machine which printed the relevant information on the right-hand end of the ticket.
I CAN RECOMMEND #AROMA #HOMESTAY to everybody. I had the best stay during my #travels through #India, and actually returned at the end of my travels. It felt like a home away from home. Joseph and Elizabeth make sure to take care of all guest and are most helpful in advising how to optimally experience #Kochi. The Home Stay is easy reachable, and from there many things are in walkable distance or just take a rickshaw (or rent a bike). The rooms are clean, always warm water available and WiFi. The Home Stay is suitable for any kind of traveler, but as a solo traveler, I can recommend this Home Stay. Every morning we had a new #traditional #Kerala #breakfast and nice talks with all the #guests. If you're looking for a safe and home feeling, you should definitely spend your time at Aroma Home Stay. It's a very reasonable price for all the services and cleanliness.

Our son was staying at my mom's while me and hubby took a bus to the Retail Park outside Tampere. Of course we got hungry and for the first time in my life I went to a Subway restaurant! Yes, we've had Subway restaurants for ages.
Later we had to wait for a bus to get back to the city and it was a good time to get a cappuccino and chocolate. I should recharge my travelcard, so it would be a bit cheaper to use public transport. It's free, when I have a kid in a stroller with me, so I've been thinking I don't really need a travelcard at the moment, but I guess I still do.

To those of us of a 'certain age' the name Williamson of Ashton used to be seen on a regular basis - on the bottom edge of our bus tickets. The Ashton-Under-Lyne based printers had specialised in tickets for transport, entrance and, in the original meaning of the word for price tags, since been founded in 1835. For many years various corporation transport departments and private operators used Williamson's for ticket stock as well as the machines they branched out into. The latter included machines for entertainment venues such as cinemas and greyhound racing tracks. In many ways their output somewhat echoed the larger Bell Punch Company who had, in Victorian days, somewhat cornered the market for pre-printed tickets allied to a cancelling and totaliser punch machine and this catalogue contains Williamson's version of this that was possibly introduced after the Bell Punch patents lapsed?
In later years as well as the pre-printed tickets seen here, Willaimson's made ticket rolls to fit other types of hand held machines such as the Bell Punch Ultimate. Undated this catalagie has a feel of the pre-WW2 era and contains a couple of inset slips one of which is dated to 1937. The company was finally wound up in 1985.
I don't look at bus tickets from one year to the next, but chanced to look at this one. I was intrigued that it gave Somerfield as the location of the bus stop. The Byres Road Somerfield store (previously Presto, then Safeway) was taken over by Waitrose in 2009, a decade ago!
