Unfortunately, the business went bust just a week or so later.

The annual Gathering at the Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft usually takes place at the end of July, and is the largest event in the Museum's calendar. A number of preserved buses, mostly from the local Yorkshire/Lincolnshire/Humberside area, also attend as visitors as well as operating a free shuttle service from Doncaster Interchange and free tours around the local area of Axholme area.

Two vehicles from the local operator Lincolnshire Road Car are seen on display here. On the left is Eastern Coach Works (ECW)-bodied Mk I Bristol VR no. 1904 (JVL 615H), which was one of the first five VRs allocated to Road Car and entered service in August 1969 in Scunthorpe, just a few miles from Sandtoft. It is preserved in original condition.

Accompanying it is 1431 (CVL 850D), a 1966 Bristol REL6G with 47-seat dual-purpose ECW bodywork. This vehicle spent much of its life at Skegness and Boston Depots and operated tours, excursions and journeys on express coach route D between Skegness, Boston and London Victoria during the busy Summer period. During the quieter Winter months it was often transferred to Lincoln, or delicensed and stored. It was the first Lincolnshire vehicle to gain the National Bus Company's allover white coach livery in 1973, and was later repainted in the dual-purpose green-and-white livery. It was withdrawn from service in 1982.

Another old one - in this case from back in November 2006 when I made my first trip abroad to visit a close friend in Iowa City.

I had not the foggiest idea what these things are - other than that they looked bizarre enough that they had to be photographed. Sadly I never had the opportunity to travel on it, and am not likely to be back in the area any time soon, so am unlikely to.

Thanks to Doran Eirok for pointing out to me that sticking "Cambus" into Wikipedia might yield some useful information on what fleet they operate...so I've now tracked down what it is. One of those moments when you find yourself shaking your head and realising that you *really* should have thought of that.

...I had the flu when I put the original post up...that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

What world now be dubbed a 'rebranding exercise'! The new colour was green, and the 'North' bit the dust! LS150 poses for an evening shot at the end of Godalming High St during summer 1999. This was the last bus up from Chiddingfold (18.50 from memory) and obviously had no passengers this night, as was often the case. The final route 71 working from Guildford (19.55) only went as far as Witley, and ran back to Guildford light.

A front view of VWD 41 as it wais time.
