CP train 486 was shrugging off a winter chill at Rondout behind a trio of SD40-2s.
At the time, a scene like this was a daily occurance, but wasn't taken for granted as the writing was on the wall.
Today, it's all devolved to a General Electric show around here.
Some more high flying pika with their wildflower bundles for their winter food storage caches. One of my all time favorite subjects to photograph!
I saw this whole huddle (?) of adorable Canada Goose goslings yesterday, when I went with Ron (Flickrite Ronaldok) down to the Coaldale Bird of Prey Centre near Lethbridge in southern Alberta. They were hanging out with Mom and Dad near one of the ponds at the Centre. We'd been watching several goslings and then suddenly Mom stood up and revealed this tightly packed bundle of downy feathers : )
This is the last of my dried flower focus stacks. I took this inside the flower shed at Wright-Locke Farm. I wish I'd done more of these, with fresh flowers, over the summer.
First crop hay bailed and ready to move. Photographed in 665 nanometer infrared using an infrared modified Canon 20D and rendered in channel inverted false color infrared. Bannock County, Idaho.
... just about to be released!

Contrasting yesterday's more hopeful horizon this morning I came across bundled up passengers making their way to their next stop in -20 temperatures.. the deeper depths of winter starting to show it's frozen face here in Montreal North along rue Henri-Bourassa...
From today - I had a session this morning/all day with a set of twin girls! They are 5 weeks old - but born pretty early...in fact this little sweetie here wasn't even 6lbs yet! 6 hours in the studio with these two and I loved every minute of it! :)

A tree in front of one the local Knitting shops is a living billboard. Nice idea and pleasant sight!
Ferrari Testarossa bundle:
- Ishida's Testa from Wangan Midnight / 281 pcs.
- Sonny Crockett's Testa from Miami Vice / 244 pcs.
- Testarossa in red / 247 pcs.
I've already built the 'Devil-Z' Nissan and the 'Blackbird' Porsche from Wangan Midnight and I wanted to expand the selection with Ishida's unique Testarossa.
That was the base motivation of this build, but during the process I changed the concept a bit. It was easy and obvious to convert Ishida's Testa into stock version, so I made the instructions also for a white one from Miami Vice and a red one because a Ferrari is most authentic in that color.

My wife and I were scooting along a country highway early Wednesday morning when I spotted this pointed fur ball up in a tree along the road. I have only seen one other porcupine in a tree in my entire life but I knew right away what it was.
I turned around and backtracked hoping it would still be there. No worries as the ball had not moved. What I did not anticipate though was how difficult it would be to photograph the porcupine from the front rather than the back.
The tail was good evidence of the backside of the porcupine but I was nonplussed to discover I could not make out the eyes or snout of the creature but took photos anyhow. When I brought it up on my monitor, I had to search a while before I finally found a couple of beady eyes looking at me.
Porcupines are more common in the upper two-thirds of Minnesota and are our second largest rodent after the beaver. One factoid I like about porcupines is that they are known as solitary animals and yet during our winters as many as a dozen can be found sharing a den, probably in an effort to keep down the heating bills.
