Lying in an inaccessible gravel pit are three well preserved examples of obsolete technology from the 1920s. They are acoustic mirrors designed to pick up the sound of approaching aircraft before they were visible. They were never taken into use because of the development of radar prior to World War 2. here are the 20 foot and 30 foot sound mirrors.

San Giorgio Maggiore is a 16th-century Benedictine church on San Giorgio Maggiore island in Venice. The basilica was designed in the classical renaissance style by Andrea Palladio, and built between 1566 and 1610.
The Stauropegic Resurrection New Jerusalem Monastery is one of the most famous monasteries in the Moscow Region. It is a unique and sacred place, marvellous in its design, having been crafted by architects from several epochs. It reproduces the layout of key religious sites in Ierusalem – the Resurrection Cathedral is the counterpart of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre with its side chapels and the underground Sts Constantine and Helena Church is the counterpart of the cavernous Palestinian church. The natural landscape around the monastery bears Biblical names: Mounts (or, rather, hills) Tabor, Hermon, Sinai, Mount of Olives, the Jordan river (Istra), and the Garden of Gethsemane.

I was in The Hague for a business portrait and while I was there anyway I thought why not shoot some more? The conditions were perfect for long exposure architecture shots!
So on top of my list was this location called De Hoftoren, it houses the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science
So I grabbed myI #formatt #Hitech IRND 10-stopper and went for a 13 seconds exposure. After taking some shots I the sun suddenly showed from behind the tower and ruined the shot I had in mind. But this happy little accident made for a very interesting shot! What do you think?

"Muckross Abbey - Tree of Life"
As a professional photographer, I spend countless hours researching future destinations. Locations, cultures, topography, temperature, tide schedules, sun - moon - twilight times, google maps/earth, and much more. Occasionally (and hopefully) you stumble upon unforeseen gems. I had read good things about the Muckross area of Wicklow, Ireland. Walking through the brilliant masonry of the Abbey I could see the majestic tree like a light at the end of a dark tunnel. Breathtakingly perfect and enormous, to the point where I wondered if it was real? The base has a twisted bark pattern that rises 10 meters to an amazing canopy, filling the entire ceiling of the courtyard. The sun positioned to create a nice sunstar between the intersections of the tree and the masonry. One of my favorite photos of the trip.
Tech specs for the photo geeks ;)

Built in the neo-baroque style of architecture, the Old Parliament Building is one of the major attractions of Colombo. The beautiful architecture and the history associated with the building is fascinating, to say the least. The building was opened on January 29, 1930 by Governor Sir Herbert Stanley. When the State Council of Ceylon was established a year later, the old building was used as the office space for the council. The building was designated as the Parliament of Sri Lanka in 1977. In 1983, the Sri Lankan parliament moved out to the new complex in Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte. Since then, the Old Parliament Building has functioned as the home to the Presidential Secretariat. You will find that the front garden of the building complex is host to several bronze statues of eminent statesmen including that of Rt Hon D. S. Senanayake, Hon Dudley Senanayake and General Sir John Kotalawela.

Across the Tages River from Lisbon lies Almada, a somewhat lesser know area which nonetheless reveals itself in it’s charm and authentic character. This desolate charm will all disappear soon with the inevitable real estate developments planned for the riverside.

The Lebrija Palace or el Palacio de la Condesa de Lebrija can be found in one of Seville city centre’s busiest streets, Calle Cuna, parallel to the Calle Sierpes. Dating from the 16th century, it is considered one of the best residences in Seville. The palace is characterised by its collection of Roman mosaics, which paved almost the entire ground floor and lead the palace to be considered the ‘best paved house-palace in Europe’.

The events that led to construction of the Kazan Cathedral took place in 1612 during the Time of Troubles, following the end of the Rurik dynasty. During this period Polish forces, in supporting claims to the Russian throne, had occupied Moscow. Russian liberation forces on the way to retake Moscow were led by Prince Dmitri Pozharsky and Kuzma Minin from Yaroslavl. They carried with them the Our Lady of Kazan Icon from Yaroslavl. The Russians laid siege to the Poles who occupied the Kremlin and the walled Kitai-gorod area next to the Kremlin. The Poles were soon defeated and retreated from Russia.
Following the expulsion of the Poles, Prince Dmitri credited their victory to the divine help of the Icon of the Theotokos of Kazan. In honor of the icon, and to commemorate the victory over the invaders, Dmitri financed the construction on Red Square of a small wooden church dedicated to the icon. The church was placed in the northeast corner of Red Square as one enters the square through the Resurrection Gate. The wooden church was destroyed by fire in 1632. Tsar Michael directed that the church be replaced. This time it was built of brick. The new church had a single dome and featured a number of tiers of Kokoshniki, a wide gallery, and a tent shaped belfry. Over the years many modifications were made to the church so that its original design was lost. While attempts, by Peter Baranovsky, were made between 1929 and 1932 to restore the exterior of the cathedral to its original appearance, the accuracy of the restorations were questioned.
In 1936, the year of the three hundredth anniversary of the cathedral, the Kazan Cathedral was destroyed as the Bolshevik dictator Joseph Stalin (nee Joseph Vissarionovich Djugashvili) ordered the Red Square cleared of churches so that it could be used for military parades. In addition to the cathedral, the Resurrection Gates. that stood at the entrance to the Red Square, were also demolished so as to not inhibit entry of parade vehicles and armed forces personnel onto the square.
Within the Perestroika initiatives of the late 1980s, a decision was made to re-build the Kazan Cathedral. The reconstruction was conducted under the direction of architect Oleg Zhurin, a pupil of Peter Baranovsky, using Baranovsky’s plans that he had prepared in the early 1930s. Construction began on November 4, 1990, the feast day of the icon, with the laying of the cornerstone by Patriarch Alexei II. Three years later, the restored cathedral was consecrated and reopened on November 4, 1993.
Second shot from my two days with Mark Bauer. We spent quite few time driving around and ended up at Corfe Castle for some shooting.
The clouds were moving incredible fast, it was just a question to wait for the right time to get the sun lighting the Castle.
