It is a complex of two, originally independent, buildings built in the late XIX and early XX centuries, connected to each other by a third insert volume, erected in the late 1930s. The first building was built in 1896 according to the project of the military engineer Dmitry Pavlovich Kolosovsky for the office of the Trading House "Briner, Kuznetsov and Co." Since 1915, it housed a city pharmacy and an ambulance station. The second building was built in 1903 by civil engineer Vladimir Antonovich Planson for the Kunst and Albers Trading House. In the building there was a dining room for company employees, living rooms, a ballroom, a billiard room and a library for employees, as well as an apartment of the Dattans family and the office of the German trading agency, later consulates, which were headed by A.V. from 1887. Dattan. In November 1930, the Physiotherapy Institute (FTI) named after the 13th anniversary of the October Revolution was located here, transformed in September 1955 into the Primorsky Regional Hospital of Physical Therapies (Regional Physiotherapy Hospital).
The first fortification on this site was built in 1368. Years later it was enlarged and became a splendid ducal palace, which was then practically completely destroyed during the Golden Ambrosian Republic. The Sforza family reconstructed the castle and made it into one of the most magnificent residences in Italy. Years later, the castle was used once more as a fortification under the Spanish and Austrian domination. Napoleon ordered the demolition of the castle in 1800 and a year later the Spanish bastions and towers were destroyed. During the second half of the nineteenth century the population was torn between keeping the Castle or destroying it to build a residential neighbourhood. However, the castle remained and the architect Luca Beltrami was instructed to renovate the castle, restoring it as it was when the Sforza family resided in it. The restoration was completed in 1905 and the central tower (Torre Filarete) and the were inaugurated. The park was built on the former parade grounds. During World War II the castle was severely damaged. At the end of the twentieth century the Castle square was built with a fountain in the centre. However, in the sixties it was destroyed when the Milan Metro was built. In 2005, the restoration of the Cortile della Ghirlanda and the halls of the castle were completed.
В XVI в.

The cathedral was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1908, and rebuilt in a modern eclectic style with Romanesque and Gothic elements. The initial design was by the engineer P. Carmelo Umberto Angiolini and then modified by the engineer Mariano Francesconi. The new church was consecrated in 1928.

AMP Centre.
When it was built in 1976 it boasted 45 floors with the sole purpose of providing commercial office space all of which were contained within the concrete, steel and glass enclosure.
At the time of its completion the Peddle Thorp & Walker designed Mainline built structure had a roof height of 188 metres (617ft) which made it Sydney’s tallest building where from 2011-2017 the Port Authority of NSW positioned a radar on the top of the building to monitor commercial shipping in Sydney Harbour.
In 2013 BVN Architecture Pty Ltd (trading as Bligh Voller Nield) designed a masterplan for the Quay Quarter Sydney project which involved a new tower.
BVN in conjunction with AMP Capital and the City of Sydney conducted a design competition for Quay Quarter Tower which saw the winning design entry submitted by 3XN a Danish architectural practice headquartered in Copenhagen and with offices in Stockholm, London, New York and Sydney.
BVN were appointed as the Executive Architect to work with 3XN and develop their design for construction.
Construction began in early 2018 following the approvals of the project in 2015.
The appointment of the lead contractor for the project was Multiplex and they were tasked with a rebuild and reclad of the building’s exterior along with a height increase and the incorporation of the existing floor space.
Overall the building would be transformed with a complete modernisation of its external appearance and design.
On completion the redevelopment phase the height of the building was increased to a height of 216 m (709 ft) and now boasted a new floor level of 54 floors with a completely revamped interior and a100% increase in total floor space.
Today the AMP Centre is known as Quay Quarter Tower and was topped out in 2021 (In building construction, topping out (sometimes referred to as topping off) is a builders' rite traditionally held when the last beam (or its equivalent) is placed atop a structure during its construction.
Nowadays, the ceremony is often parlayed into a media event for public relations purposes. It has since come to mean more generally finishing the structure of the building, whether there is a ceremony or not. It is also commonly used to determine the amount of wind on the top of the structure).
It was finally completed in early 2022.
The International High-Rise Award in November 2022 paid the ultimate recognition outstanding contribution of 3XN and BVN injected into the project.
But the greatest honour was bestowed in December 2022 when the architects were awarded the World Building of the Year Award announced at the World Architecture Festival held in Lisbon, Portugal.

I was in #Amsterdam this week and decided to stop by the #eyemuseum to see If I could capture this awesome building in a long exposure. The location was awesome and the conditions were perfect, great light, great skies with fast moving clouds in the right direction! I decided on the composition, made a testshot and all was perfect¦ I took my HighTech 10-stopper out and if I could only find my filter holder i’d be all set!

As I strolled along the limestone path that has been bathed by sun and rain for 1,000 years, I felt I entered a world like fantasy that came to life, that took me back in time a thousand years.

I was drawn into the mesmerizing symmetry of these vaulted arches. Each line and shadow seemed to weave a silent rhythm, creating a pattern that felt both intricate and infinite. There’s something almost hypnotic about the way the light touches the edges, casting soft contrasts that give depth to the design. It’s as if the architecture whispers stories from centuries past, yet remains timelessly serene.
