The Massandra Palace, built in the 19th century in Upper Massandra on the Southern coast of Crimea, was the residence of Emperor Alexander III. The building was built in the style of ancient castles of the period of the French king Louis XIII. It is often called the "little Versailles".
Массандровский дворец, построенный в XIX веке в Верхней Массандре на Южном берегу Крыма, был резиденцией императора Александра III. Здание возведено в стиле старинных замков периода французского короля Людовика XIII. Его нередко называют «малым Версалем».
Hotel on the sea coast. Hotel "Marino" in Yalta-part of the tour of Chekhov's places. The former cottage of Kazimir Benkovsky in the NINETEENTH century thanks to the architect Nikolai Krasnov has gained its refined appearance, and the famous guest — Anton Pavlovich Chekhov — added romanticism. According to local legends, in these places — from a café opposite the hotel — Chekhov pesona Dmitry Gurov noticed the lady with the dog: "Sitting in the pavilion at Vernet, he saw on the promenade was a young lady, short blond, in a beret; behind her ran a white Spitz". These walls remember Maxim Gorky, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Marius Petipa and a strong earthquake, after which the building lost part of its bourgeoisie: it was necessary to remove the decorative borders and vases.

The Faroese have one of the oldest parliaments in the world, located in the Tinganes section of the capital city of Torshavn. Their parliament first met during the Viking ages in 825, and is in good company with other old parliaments such as that of Þingvellir in Iceland and Jamtamót in Sweden. The buildings still standing here today are from the 16th and 17th centuries.
Walking around Tinganes in the middle of a fine Sunday I discovered two things: 1) It's pretty darn small. You could see the whole thing in 5 minutes if you wanted. And 2) Like elsewhere in the Faroes, you're not likely to encounter a lot of other tourists (yay!). If you take a visit to Torshavn, it's pretty hard to pass up walking through this small and enjoyable historic area, easily accessible from downtown Torshavn on foot.
"People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." ~ Elisabeth Kuble-Ross ~
Another image captured while out with Ken Fisher other weekend in Lincoln Cathedral. We are going to have to visit here again in the spring when the days are longer and the sun is a little higher.

Egypt doesn’t have the monopoly on pyramids. The Sudan has many of them, and discovers new ones regularly. The most beautiful and impressive pyramids form the Meroe necropolis. After a few hours on a brand new road (the same trip required two days on trails last year), we arrive at an unimaginably beautiful site: an alignment of small pyramids in the desert, bathed in the hot red sun on orange sand. No busses on the car park, no tourist shops. It’s almost like being the French explorer Fréderic Caillaud, who discovered the site in 1821! We understand immediately why UNESCO classified it as a World Heritage Site in 2011.
The pyramids were built between 4BC and 3AD. The site contains over two hundred of them, whereas Egypt has only a hundred in total! Forty kings and queens are buried here.
We notice immediately that the summits of all the pyramids have been blown off with dynamite. This is the work of the Italian explorer Giuseppe Ferlini, who in 1834 came and pillaged the site, taking away priceless treasures.

Пале́рмо (др.-греч. Πάνορμος, лат. Panormus, итал. Palermo, сиц. Palermu) — главный город итальянского региона Сицилия , административный центр одноимённой провинции.
View of the magnificient frescos inside the main prayer hall of Vank Cathedral (Holy Savior Cathedral, Church of the Saintly Sisters), in Isfahan, Isfahan province of Iran.
The cathedral was established in 1606, dedicated to the hundreds of thousands of Armenian deportees that were resettled by Shah Abbas I during the Ottoman War of 1603-1618.
The interior is covered with fine frescos and gilded carvings and includes a wainscot of rich tile work. The delicately blue and gold painted central dome depicts the Biblical story of the creation of the world and man's expulsion from Eden. Pendentives throughout the church are painted with a distinctly Armenian motif of a cherub's head surrounded by folded wings. The ceiling above the entrance is painted with delicate floral motifs in the style of Persian miniature. Two sections, or bands, of murals run around the interior walls: the top section depicts events from the life of Jesus, while the bottom section depicts tortures inflicted upon Armenian martyrs by the Ottoman Empire.
