Funny that the very last piece of the main floor standing is a bathroom. Very difficult to access now. And not very private!

The Cal Poly Pomona Classroom, Laboratory & Administration Building, aka CLA Building, is a beloved Futurist-style architecture and a well-recognized landmark in the San Gabriel / Pomona Valley east of Los Angeles. Because the building does not meed current California earthquake safety standards, officials voted to tear down the building due to high retrofitting costs. The site will be replaced with green space and outdoor seating.
Kmart was once the leading discount chain (an outgrowth of the S S Kresge company). In 1969, Kmart had a new headquarters built at 3100 W. Big Beaver Road in Troy, Michigan featuring multiple dark grey service towers connected by offices with bronze colored floor to ceiling windows. The towers gave the building a grim ugly appearance. As a kid growing up in Troy, I have a memory of helicopters transporting trees to the site for the landscaping. The structure served as Kmart's HQ from 1972 to 2006 when they merged their operations with Sears and abandoned the Troy location. It had been empty ever since. Demolition started in November 2023 and continues through March 2024. These pictures do not convey the large size of the complex (40 acres).
This view shows one of the taller service towers. These towers gave the entire site an abstract castle-like appearance (as seen from a distance).

Universal Wrecking Corp. www.universalwrecking.com recently completed a large demolition and scrap metal recycling project in Pennsylvania. The project consisted of the demolition of a large industrial site that had been damaged by a fire. UWC utilized its large fleet of demolition equipment to wreck the building and then recycle the recovered steel and metals as scrap.
I walked into the hard hat zone to take this pano shot. It’s been cropped to better frame the subject. Here you can see that the main floor is totally knocked down. Made it monochromatic because it so much improves the compositional focus.
May 30, 2021 - Demolition of the Lazarus (Macy's) Department Store which was built in 1970. Located at 3180 Kingsdale Center, Upper Arlington, Ohio.
"The Lazarus Department Store was founded in downtown Columbus in 1851. This structure is a good example of the suburban Lazarus store design of the mid-20th century. The entrance is emphasized by three ground-to-roof bays of pebble-embedded rock defined by New Formalism style white pilasters and arches. Designed using the same glazed multi-colored blue bricks as the Lazarus Eastland and Northland stores, these materials were selected “not only for their handsome color and sparkle, but for their durability and quality of never needing cleaning.” The design was influenced by Raymond Loewy, considered the father of industrial design, who had a decades-long working relationship with Robert Lazarus." Just four hours ago I took some photos of the old library. At that time mostly the demo work had been in the interior. I arrived back on Lower Roswell Road around 5:30 to find a whole lot of the building had already been knocked down. Shot with my little Sony DSC-WX220 and worked on in Snapseed. Note: The new library / community center is at the far right.
