Lifetime Dream # 122 of my list of 155: I will learn the song, Cast Your Fate Into The Wind, by Vince Guaraldi, on the piano. I will make a nice recording of it, when I am able to play it flawlessly. I will play the song often, remembering warm memories of the fall seasons.

Completed On: May 31, 2006

When I worked at target years ago, there was a new release by George Winston, who recorded several songs of The Peanuts. The only song that I ever really knew and remembered was of course the infamous Peanuts Theme song. I bought this album and the first track was a song called “Cast your Fate Into The Wind”. I was blown away.

The colors of this song were and are simply amazing. Having Synesthesia makes listening to songs a whole different experience… some better than others. This song really spoke to me and moved me. Whenever I think of the Fall, this is one of the many songs that brings a smile to my face. Vince’s style is difficult at times, and yet this was very worthy of a lifetime dream; it wasn’t easy to say the least!

For those who don’t know what Synesthesia is, here you go: Basically I can see music in color:

Stelvio Pass is on many a person's list of 'must do' drives and made more famous from Top Gear's segment a few years back. My trip was a little unfortunate as the clouds, fog, rain and snow reduced visibility to a few metres.

Nonetheless the scale and sheer magnitude of where this road ascends to is amazing. Many stop at the top and come back, but I continued on and found tarmac nirvana through the amazing Alps and down into the top of Italy.

A 'must do again' route for sure.

My bucket list.......

There are so many things on my bucket list that I want to do. Traveling, seeing sights, learning new things, making a difference, etc, etc.

The biggest thing on my bucket list though.....get married.

I want to be a part of something amazing. I want to develop a connection with someone more than just "hi, how was your week? Do anything fun? That's nice, Bye".

Right now though, this one particular item keeps eluding me. Its the one thing I can't do on my own. I can't make someone love me, I can't make someone want to be with me.

So for now, it's on my bucket list. I'm hoping someday I can cross it off.

One off the bucket list!

Discovered in 1967, I became hooked in 1972 when I first saw one. I knew that one day I would have one. So as a retirement gift to myself... I took the plunge and designed this monster. Thanks to Jason Scott Jewelers for making it exactly as I've imagined it for 40 years.

To witness a sunrise or sunset, the times of the day when the veils between worlds are thin, is wonderful enough. To experience these phenomena from this sacred temple, also described as a major power spot on the Earth's surface, is to directly encounter the divine. Places like Stonehenge subtly affect our perception, transforming our experience of Earth into Heaven. This is why these places are so important, and need protecting. They teach us to live in a world of magic and mystery, where the numinous still inhabits the land. Experience with Stonehenge Guided Tours: www.StonehengeTours.com

Here are two more concepts. The only one I kind of like is the one to the right. Maybe I could hand draw most of the bulletin and make it look like an actual list. I am also going to post some of the ideas you guys have given me.

Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming...

There are spectacular sights to see even if you're not in the cage diving with the sharks.

We Wrap Up the October #conservationlands15 Social Media Takeover with the Top 15 Bucket List Adventures on BLM’s National Conservation Lands!

1. View manatees on the Florida coast. Visitors to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse can have a front row seat during the winter months to view Florida’s beloved manatees. Wear polarized sunglasses to maximize your underwater view.

2. Explore a lava tube, ID. Bear Trap Cave in Craters of the Moon National Monument is an easy opportunity to go underground and get a taste of a major lava tube system. The tube, which once served as a conduit for a major lava flow, can be traced for more than 15 miles. The total cave length accessible from Bear Trap is about 150 feet.

3. Kayak and camp on the continental U.S. coastline’s northernmost island, WA. Patos Island in the San Juan Islands National Monument is a stone’s throw from Canada. Visitors can camp on the island and explore the headlands and Patos Island Lighthouse, built in 1893. The mountains of Canada and the Cascade and Olympic ranges provide scenic backdrops.

4. Walk in the footsteps of an ancient civilization, UT. Grand Gulch Wilderness Study Area in Utah is famous for its Ancestral Puebloan cliff ruins and rock art. Hikers and backpackers can follow miles of winding canyons lined with overhanging cliffs that provided shelter to ancient peoples. Some ruins are amazingly inaccessible, perched high on ledges and under overhangs.

5. View the brightest Milky Way under the darkest night skies, AZ. Arizona’s Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument was designated as an International Night Sky Provence” due to its amazing dark skies and freedom from light pollution. Come during the summer when the core of the Milky Way is most visible.

6. Fish and raft Montana’s legendary Madison River, MT. Flowing through the heart of the Beartrap Canyon Wilderness, the Madison offers challenging whitewater and a blue ribbon trout fishery.

7. Hike the Continental Divide, NM. You don’t need to be a mountain goat to explore the Continental Divide in New Mexico. Segments of the Continental Divide trail in the El Malpias National Conservation Area cross rolling volcanic tablelands dotted with Ponderosa pines & are suitable for day hikes and family outings.

8. Follow the route of Pony Express riders, WY. The Pony Express National Historic Trail follows the corridor of the legendary fast-moving mail service, operated between April 1860 and November 1861. Stop at the National Historic trails Interpretive Center in Casper, WY and learn about nearby trail corridor locations to hike, bike or ride your horse.

9. Pan for gold in California’s Mother Lode. The Merced and North fork of the American Wild and Scenic Rivers are in the heart of CA gold country. Patient prospectors will still find “color” in their pans and everyone is rewarded with spectacular beauty and crystal clear waters.

10. Hike the granddaddy of all slot canyons, UT. Utah’s Buckskin Gulch in the Paria Canyon – Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness is legendary among slot canyon explorers – No canyon in North America, and probably the world, combines its depth, narrowness and length.

11. Hike the northernmost national recreation trail, AK. The Pinnell Mountain trail in Alaska’s Steese National Conservation Area offers sweeping mountain vistas and brilliant wildflower displays under the unceasing light of the midnight sun. Located 100 miles (161 km) northeast of Fairbanks, this 27-mile trail traverses mostly tundra with a few scattered black spruce.

12. Float & fish author Zane Grey’s favorite river, OR. The legendary salmon and steelhead runs along the Rogue first attracted western author Zane Grey to the region in 1919 and later led to its designation as one of the first 8 designated Wild and Scenic Rivers in the country.

13. Drive where the world land speed record was set, NV. The 100,000 acre playa (dry lake bed) in the Black Rock-High Rock-Emigrant Trails National Conservation Area made history in 1997 when the world land speed record of 766 mph was set. Visitors can drive on the flat expanse of the playa as long as conditions are dry.

14. Get a jump on your birding life list, AZ. The San Pedro Riparian NCA is a birders paradise where 350 species have been documented. The Globally Important Bird Area attracts thousands of birdwatchers from all over the world each year. The 100 breeding species represent roughly half the number of known breeding species in North America.

15. Mountain bike through the red-rock of the Colorado Plateau, CO. The Kokopelli’s Area Trail network, located near Grand Junction, CO at the western edge of McInnis Canyon’s National Conservation Area, is arguably the best collection of trails in Colorado one of the best networks in the entire southwest. Miles of super fine singletrack with amazing views of the Colorado River canyon’s makes Kokopelli’s a World Class trails mecca.

Lecco was home base during my trip to the Monza Formula 1 Grand Prix. About 30 minutes away from the track it was not too far, but gave you a feeling of being on holiday.

For Flickr Group Roulette: Bucket List. Hmmmmm, a 117-day cruise around the damn world? We'll take it!!

April #conservationlands15 #bucketlist: Bodie Hills, California, for Wildflowers, Wildlife and One-of-a-Kind Ghost Town!

California’s Eastern Sierra region is a dramatic transition zone between the snowcapped granite spires of the Sierra Nevada and the endless sagebrush covered uplands of the Great Basin. A visit at the right time of year will reward visitors with a diversity of wildflowers.

One great wildflower viewing area is just north of Mono Lake and east of Yosemite in the rolling Bodie Hills – hills being an understatement since they top out at over 10,000 feet! Because of their high elevation, wildflower blooms are later here than much of California – typically arriving in May-June on the lower slopes and into July on the highest peaks. Several back roads traverse the area and offer access to view the displays of phlox, penstemmon, and paintbrush to name a few of the many wildflower species. More than 100,000 acres of BLM lands cover most of the Bodie Hills and include several wilderness study areas.

This year’s bloom promises to be early and short due to the dry winter across much of California. However, even if you miss the peak bloom, there is no shortage of things to see in the area. Bodie State Park is the site of the best-preserved ghost town in California, and arguably in the U. S. Wildlife viewers can see antelope, mule deer, and if lucky, get a glimpse of a sage grouse. If you visit later, around early October, crisp clear nights will turn the scattered aspen stands to gold, giving a second opportunity to see the Bodie Hills in color.

Another top photo taken on our charter yesterday - buy a Gift Voucher for yourself for Christmas and come and join Calypso Star Charters - the only one day shark cage dive in Australia that is Eco Certified with 4 Eco Certified Guides plus a Licence to Burley which is what keeps the sharks around our boat - come and join us.

Nice, Monaco, Menton, Sanremo, Imperia - the road follows the coast from France into Italy. It's one of those drives you ideally do with a few weeks up your sleeve to soak up each town, village and port.

I drove up through the middle of Italy from the coast to eventually arrive at Lake Garda, the largest inland lake in Italy.

The BLM manages Spruce Reach Island, a 67-acre site located on the Oregon coast near the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area. The previous landowner, O.H. Hinsdale, planted hundreds of rhododendrons and azaleas in an English woodland garden style. The garden is a historical resource that is potentially eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places

One day, I hope to get a shot of the aura borealis. I find it to be somewhat challenging since several conditions need to be just right, including no clouds, no moon, nice weather, cooperation from the sun, and a decent location that lets you look at the northern skies. Not to mention that we would most likely be doing this in the middle of the night, and we like our sleep. ☺️ My husband suggested that we scout out a couple local lakes this afternoon. Not sure if this spot will work out, but I thought it was a pretty location. This is a panoramic shot.

The next series of photographs will all, in one way or another, be as a result of me having ticked an item on my Bucketlist: doing a multi-day pelagic birding trip.

Having retired (for the second time) at the end of July, I seriously started persuing that Bucketlist item and when the first notice from BirdLife SA arrived on their listserver for the services of a Bird Observer, I had a bid submitted within minutes. The reply: provided I could get sertified by a SAMSA approved GP as medically fit for Seafaring and I obtain SAMSA certificates in Personal Survival Teqniques and Designated Security Duties, my bid would be accepted. I committed to all of these requirements there and then.

The red lifejackets you see hanging against the wall one had to don and be ready to “Abandon Ship” in one minute.

The yellow "immersion suit" would be used instead in very cold waters.

The big life raft constitued an exercise that left me blowing like a steam train! Getting into that place of safety is much more difficult than what this serena shot suggests
