Angel of the North, by Antony Gormley

Apologies I seem to have got lost in NI! I didn't but life got in the way of posting as did facebook! I'm going to try again!

OK this photo was one of the main reasons I went to Northern Ireland as I've wanted to see this for ages. Loved it took loads but won't bore you with any more.. Over the next few days I'm going to try to do a quickish summary of my time from then till now!

Shadow Talk?

Shadow Issues?

. . . no kidding . . . this was straight from the cam!

My wife Es was listening to the Navajo photographer/guide when I noticed the lighting on her and took a quick shot.

A wide angle shot of lights dancing above the crater "Kerid" in Iceland with the Milky way hiding behind lady Aurora and the lights reflecting in the lake at the bottom of the crater.

#Bucketlist to stay there someday!

I've waited a lot of years to see a shelf cloud over checkerboard hill, along the South Saskatchewan River north of Leader. It is a popular look out spot for locals, and also tourists. It finally happened tonight.

🇬🇧 The feeling when you finally cross off a very special item on your bucket list is priceless - and sometimes you might meet a dragon on the way.

🇩🇪 Das Gefühl, wenn du endlich diese eine Sache von deiner Löffelliste streichen kannst, von der du schon so lange geträumt hast, ist einfach unbezahlbar - und manchmal trifft man unterwegs einen Drachen.

📍Fanal, Madeira.

Live for the simple things

Live for the things that make you happy

Endure with grace the moments that don't

Seek out your peace

Let go of things and people that disturb it

And fill your days with sunrises and sunsets

and following after beauty,

the wild in you,

and the deepest truth.

Just a stunning and unreal place...especially in the winter. Put it on the bucket list!

Sometimes we ask, how tourism changes the untouched countries and those who travel know, that tourism is very powerful at bringing changes into the lifestyle of any country like Myanmar, which opened its borders to tourism only 6 years ago. Well here is this touching picture of a fisherman on the Inle Lake, the second largest lake in this country. It seems to be a pretty impressive shot from the boat passing by, while the fisherman is doing his job. The ugly truth is, that this man realised, it is financially better to be posing for the tourists, than fishing and selling in the market. He is floating right at the place, where the river channel enters the lake - that means all the boats coming from the town called Nyaungshwe have to go pass him. Some people are disgusted by this fact, me being a photo hunter, I loved the dance he did for me and my lens. Must be even more beautiful while sunrise and a fog lying lazily above the surface. I was pleased to give him some change and truly, I saw sparkle of happiness in his wrinkly face – he was so pleased, he was spoiling me with even more beautiful “dances”. Fisherman or a “posing dancer” - he has to feed his family and I know the poverty in this country is still a big issue.

When Icelandair B757-23N TF-FIC arrived in Shannon today the Pan Am colours had ben replaced with "Bucketlist Experiences" titles and logo - these are on the port side only.

The annular eclipse passed over my home. This photo is of the ring of fire as it passed through a colander (left) and a pinhole in paper (right). Interestingly, the total eclipse will also pass right over my home in April 2024, so we are sort of in a cosmic x.

I certainly hope it sends some good juju my way. It seems now that I've made it through cancer my lumbar disks are failing and I'm having back surgery next week. These disks have served me well through years of rolling kayaks in whitewater, backpacking, jumping horses over obstacles, hauling water, digging in the garden so I can't blame them for giving up. But I can't ignore the numbness and pain in my legs any longer.

Recently I read an article about when you age you should not only have a bucket list, but also a chuck it list. I realize that some of my activities are now going onto the chuck it list. But fortunately my photography and art will continue and maybe even become more of a focus. During my recovery I intend to work on some of my older photos to share with you.

I always had this shot on my bucketlist: A clear Milky Way over the epic Tre Cime ❤️. We had best conditions that night so, after only two visits, I can finally tick that off my list . www.instagram.com/wim__air

Burg Eltz. I've seen so many amazing photos of this place here on Flickr - so I couldn't wait to go here. Would have looked amazing in fog, snow or in Autumn...none of which you get in June!

Salar de Uyuni (or Salar de Tunupa) is the world's largest salt flat at 10,582 square kilometers (4,086 sq mi). It is located in the Daniel Campos Province in Potosí in southwest Bolivia, near the crest of the Andes and is at an elevation of 3,656 meters (11,995 ft) above sea level.

Week 25 in 52 Weeks for Dogs. I've been meaning to do a 'bucket list' for Taivas for quite some time. She is a dog who has missed her vocation in life, to herd anything that moves. I wish I'd set up a better backdrop but yet again, I was up against the time, having left her shot until Sunday.

We extended our stay in Dublin with a tour to Northern Ireland. Three hours drive north brought us to one of the most stunning scenes I've ever witnessed. No wonder that the location-scouts for "Lord of the Rings" and "Game of Thrones" used this place as a filming location for there fairytale movies.

The 250 year old Beechtrees must have been part of a hedge and due to lack of maintenance grew like they do now.

Downside to the popularity of this place is the large amount of visitors, which makes it almost impossible to take an image without people in it. I admit that in PS I removed one couple and their photographer from this image.

This bucketlist-location was definitely worth a visit.

Enjoy!

A big, beautiful view of the California coastline from the pier in Oceanside California just north of San Diego. A heaven day watching surfers, beach lovers and a parade of wet suits and bikinis.

The Temple of Kom Ombo is an unusual double temple design. There are courts, halls, sanctuaries and rooms duplicated for two sets of gods. The southern half of the temple was dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek, god of fertility and creator of the world with Hathor and Khonsu. Meanwhile, the northern part of the temple was dedicated to the falcon god Haroeris, also known as Horus the Elder, along with Tasenetnofret (the Good Sister, a special form of Hathor or Tefnet/Tefnut) and Panebtawy (Lord of the Two Lands). The temple is atypical because everything is perfectly symmetrical along the main axis. ~Wikipedia
