How does a bucketlist get it's content? In my case I watched an episode of "Photographing the World" by Elia Locardi around 7 years ago. This landscape and cityscape tutorial was recorded all over the world. Elia's shots from Singapore really encouraged me to visit this place. One of his locations was this spot near the bay. So when I had the chance to visit Singapore this year I knew that I wanted to make this image. I was lucky with the circumstances: no rain, nice sky and no other photographers that wanted my spot 😉. I am satisfied with the result and ticked one item of my list.

Apologies I seem to have got lost in NI! I didn't but life got in the way of posting as did facebook! I'm going to try again!
OK this photo was one of the main reasons I went to Northern Ireland as I've wanted to see this for ages. Loved it took loads but won't bore you with any more.. Over the next few days I'm going to try to do a quickish summary of my time from then till now!

I've waited a lot of years to see a shelf cloud over checkerboard hill, along the South Saskatchewan River north of Leader. It is a popular look out spot for locals, and also tourists. It finally happened tonight.
Aerial view of the famous Bavarian castle. Early morning shot between the rainshowers I had some moments to make these captures. It was on my bucketlist for some years.
Na een pauze van bijna twee uur, vertrok de 'Bergkönigin' om 15:55 met de drie rijtuigen uit Rübeland terug naar Blankenburg (Harz). Hierbij moest weer een steile helling worden overbrugd. Daarbij rijdt de trein ook over de 30 meter hoge Kreuztalviadukt, ook bekend als de Krocksteinviadukt, over het Kreuztal in Neuwerk. Wat mijn betreft een heel fraai bouwwerk op de Rübelandbahn. Door een foto hier te maken kon dit ook weer van de bucketlist afgestreept worden.
In een soort van modelbaansetting rijdt de fraaie Einheitsdampflok 95 1027-2 met de drie DR-rijtuigen over het Kreuztalviadukt in Neuwerk onderweg naar Michaelstein en uiteindelijk Blankenburg (Harz). Na deze foto kon de dag alweer positief afgesloten worden.

The photo trip to Fairbanks, Alaska was my wife's present to me for Christmas, a response to her inquiring about my 'bucket list' in November. I spent 4 nights (9pm - 3am) in the field shooting the Aurora. Three of those nights were with a professional photographer who specializes in Aurora photography. This shot is from the first night, when I think the Aurora was the most active. It as taken from the Sirius Sled Dogs site.
Trust me, there is nothing that can prepare you for this truly awesome sight and photos do not do it justice because it can be all around you and moving all the time. Our cameras can only record a sector of it at a time.

The annular eclipse passed over my home. This photo is of the ring of fire as it passed through a colander (left) and a pinhole in paper (right). Interestingly, the total eclipse will also pass right over my home in April 2024, so we are sort of in a cosmic x.
I certainly hope it sends some good juju my way. It seems now that I've made it through cancer my lumbar disks are failing and I'm having back surgery next week. These disks have served me well through years of rolling kayaks in whitewater, backpacking, jumping horses over obstacles, hauling water, digging in the garden so I can't blame them for giving up. But I can't ignore the numbness and pain in my legs any longer.
Recently I read an article about when you age you should not only have a bucket list, but also a chuck it list. I realize that some of my activities are now going onto the chuck it list. But fortunately my photography and art will continue and maybe even become more of a focus. During my recovery I intend to work on some of my older photos to share with you.

Week 25 in 52 Weeks for Dogs. I've been meaning to do a 'bucket list' for Taivas for quite some time. She is a dog who has missed her vocation in life, to herd anything that moves. I wish I'd set up a better backdrop but yet again, I was up against the time, having left her shot until Sunday.
Burg Eltz. I've seen so many amazing photos of this place here on Flickr - so I couldn't wait to go here. Would have looked amazing in fog, snow or in Autumn...none of which you get in June!

also the buried life informed me they wanted THIS photo as the cover of their book but they couldn't get in contact with me! Isn't that crazy!?
We extended our stay in Dublin with a tour to Northern Ireland. Three hours drive north brought us to one of the most stunning scenes I've ever witnessed. No wonder that the location-scouts for "Lord of the Rings" and "Game of Thrones" used this place as a filming location for there fairytale movies.
The 250 year old Beechtrees must have been part of a hedge and due to lack of maintenance grew like they do now.
Downside to the popularity of this place is the large amount of visitors, which makes it almost impossible to take an image without people in it. I admit that in PS I removed one couple and their photographer from this image.
This bucketlist-location was definitely worth a visit.
