After bringing their train out of Moss Siding and getting the signal at CP 266, BNSF train R-HLA4701-27I gets moving down Main Track 1 of the BNSF Ft. Scott Sub with a pair of former BN SD60M's leading the way. They're headed just a few miles south to Spring Hill for industry work.
It's Monday, and as typical on Monday's, the Lenexa Roadswitcher crew is in charge of the Spring Hill industry work today, as the L-HLA6921 is Tuesday through Saturday job. They started at Moss Siding at Bonita today, tagging the train the R-HLA6911 left for them last night. 1/27/25.
At a second Osprey nest along the Concord Road in Kiamesha Lake, NY. The one near the old entrance to the hotel does not seem to be in use. This one is closer to the Kiamesha Lake Road.

April showers bring May flowers...except these are really March flowers, courtesy of Longwood Gardens.
About this photo:
I took this photo in March at the Longwood Gardens conservatory
About the process:
Usual processing stuff for me: I increased the color and contrast using overlays and added a high pass filter for detail.

I'm not sure I ever had that much confidence myself, but anything's possible in a miniature world. :)
For this week's Macro Mondays group theme, Star. To give an idea of scale, the shoes are ½" long.
R.I.P. Hans, and thank you.
Note to Admins: Sorry, I accidentally deleted my image from the group, so I've had to reinstate it. I promise I didn't mean to! If you want me to remove it, though, please let me know. I will understand because it's entirely my fault.

It was a busy Monday; things kept piling up to the point I gave up on trying to keep up and went with just tackling things one at a time instead of looking at the whole list and getting overwhelmed.
Oh well; tomorrow's another day to keep working through the list.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

Braving the rain yesterday, I stopped in at the Flower District of LA, picking up these daisies. Oh, they make me so happy, especially next to these bright yellow lemons.
I'm going back someday
Come what may
To Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fine
And the world is mine
On Blue Bayou
Where those fishing boats
With their sails afloat
If I could only see
That familiar sunrise
Through sleepy eyes
How happy I'd be
This picture brings to my mind a poem, a favourite of my mother's actually, written by Florbela Espanca, a Portuguese poetess of the early 20th century. I couldn't find a satisfactory English translation so I made my own. The power of the words will be lost but the meaning is preserved, I think.
Vain Wishes
I wish I were the Sea of lofty demeanour
Singing and laughing, the immense vastness!
I wish I were the mindless Stone,
The stone on the path, coarse and strong!
I wish I were the Sun, the intense light,
The bliss of the humble not favoured by fortune!
I wish I were the Tree, rugged and dense
Laughing at the vain world, indeed at death itself!
Yet, the Sea also weeps in sorrow…
The trees as well, as if in prayer,
Open their arms to the heavens, like a believer!
And the lofty and mighty Sun, after one day,
Sheds in its agony tears of blood!
And the Stones… those… everyone steps on them.

Bringing Baby Food.
Female Purple Martin at Bombay Hook NWR, bringing insects to feed its babies. Many martins starved to death and abandoned their nests because the insect bloom was delayed because of the very cold wet spring. So it excellent to see the martins successfully raising second if late broods

The asparagus bed after a shower of rain. This is a crop from a larger shot, the plants were so sparkly that the camera and I had problems focussing on anything.
