This stone bridge joins the village of Yarm to Egglescliffe on the north bank of the River Tees.

It was built by Walter Skirlaw, Bishop of Durham in 1400.

In 1803 the stone bridge was replaced by a new iron one. This new bridge collapsed soon after it was built on the 12th January 1806.

Fortunately the old bridge had not been destroyed and stands to this day.

At 737m, the Haast River Bridge is the longest one-lane road bridge in New Zealand, and the 7th longest New Zealand bridge overall.

The Haast River drains the western watershed of the Haast Pass. It is 100 kilometres in length, and enters the Tasman Sea near Haast township. The river's main tributary is the Landsborough River.

The grassy flats on the lower reaches are grazed by cattle by the local farmers. Tourism operators offer jetboat tours on the river.

The river often has glacial silt in suspension in the water from glaciers in the Southern Alps. The majority of the surrounding land is publicly owned and administered by the Department of Conservation. It is set within the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site.

State Highway 6 follows virtually the complete length of the river, with this bridge near the coast, just after the turnoff to the Haast township. (Wikipedia)

One of the most impressive Roman bridges is the Alcántara Bridge over the Tagus river in Spain. Caius Julius Lacer completed this bridge in 104 A.D. during the reign of Emperor Trajan. It is one of the few Roman bridges whose builder is credited with its construction. Lacer’s words appear on an inscription at the site, “I have built a bridge which will remain for ever.” So far, so good!

The Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge over the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, 9 miles (14 kilometres) west of Edinburgh City Centre. It is considered an iconic structure and a symbol of Scotland, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was designed by the English engineers Sir John Fowler and Sir Benjamin Baker.

These old train wheels make quite a fitting foreground for the Bridge I think. Water over my wellies for this one...

Taken just before sunrise on a still Sunday morning from Tower Bridge Pier.

This is the second of a series I am doing on the Peace Bridge of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

As I said in my previous image, I shot this bridge a while ago, before I got myself a pro camera and I wanted to go back to show how much I have grown as a photographer since.

I love the architecture of the bridge and think it is very beautiful, so that is what I am trying to get across in my images.

As always, Thanks for viewing and comments are always welcome. :)

The 19th century-built Forth Bridge, opened in 1890 carries railway traffic over the Firth of Forth on the East Coast Main Line and is ranked the World's No.2 Cantilever Bridge but should really be No.1.

Some people mistakenly call the Forth 'Road' Bridge , just to the west , the Forth Bridge , which is wrong and there is no need to put the word 'rail' into the title either.

The bridge gained it's World Heritage Accolade in July 2015

Adam (JesusPoet), James (Jlawler) and Josh (Furiousgeorge) and I visited the new Bridge Street development in Huntsville last night after the NAPG meeting. This carousel was fun to shoot.

Here's one from a few weeks back, taken nearly an hour after a rather disappointing sunset. The colours are straight out of the camera, in fact, apart from the RAW conversion and some minor tidying up in CS5 this has hardly been 'processed' at all. Hope you like it.

Looks proper lovely on black.....just click it ;-)

Thanks for looking - Paul
