The old bridge opened on 1 June 1882. It used to connect Old Bridge Road (Bridge Hill side of the Clutha/Mata-au) and Rivers
Street (Alexandra township side). It was built by Vincent County engineer Leslie Duncan Macgeorge in 1882, and was a suspension bridge.
The new bridge is situated adjacent and just upstream of the old bridge. It is a steel truss arch bridge and part of New Zealand State Highway 8.
It was opened on 5 July 1958

At 737m, the Haast River Bridge is the longest one-lane road bridge in New Zealand, and the 7th longest New Zealand bridge overall.
The Haast River drains the western watershed of the Haast Pass. It is 100 kilometres in length, and enters the Tasman Sea near Haast township. The river's main tributary is the Landsborough River.
The grassy flats on the lower reaches are grazed by cattle by the local farmers. Tourism operators offer jetboat tours on the river.
The river often has glacial silt in suspension in the water from glaciers in the Southern Alps. The majority of the surrounding land is publicly owned and administered by the Department of Conservation. It is set within the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site.
State Highway 6 follows virtually the complete length of the river, with this bridge near the coast, just after the turnoff to the Haast township. (Wikipedia)
North Kessock
Work started on building the bridge in 1976, it opened in 1982. It has a total length of 1056m, the central span is 240m long. It has been built high enough above the Beauly Firth to allow ships to pass under in order to reach the docks at Inverness. It carries the A9 from Perth, bypassing most of Inverness, across the water to the Black Isle, and onwards northwards towards Thurso.
Prior to 1982 the only alternative was the Kessock Ferry which although adequate, could not carry significant amounts of traffic, and certainly not the volume of traffic which uses the road today.

This historic bridge is in the Chickasaw National Recreation Area in Sulphur, Oklahoma and is one of many beautiful areas found inside the park. Love this place! Best viewed large and on black if you can. Thank you Kerstin Frank for use of your texture.
