This little place was advertising breakfast bagel sandwiches and became our last stop on the way out of town. Handmade from scratch, made to order and with love and care. Nothing better.

Happy Fly Day Friday, and a nice weekend to all my Friends! :-)

For the Through the Lens Week 3 theme of "Looking Through". Not only was this young (I think) Red Wattlebird looking through the detritus of someone's breakfast and scoffing something I would barely call nutritious, but I was looking through the Rotunda towards the beach where many families were enjoying the overcast but still warm weather.

I was saddened to see this detritus and hope that the litterers came back to pick it all up.

Fortunately most of this wide long beach was quite clean as was the water.

Breakfast - I was at Lewes Beach shooting photographs of the ice and I happened upon this person feeding the gulls their "breakfast". After posting this photograph on Facebook, a gentleman reached out to give me more of the backstory... It seems that this man comes to Lewes Beach 2 to three times per day to feed the gulls while his wife, who enjoys seeing them and has some medical issues, sits in the van and watches. Years ago, a friend of mine, who was a Canadian Naval officer, invited me along for family day on an older wooden hulled mine sweeper, which was still being used as a training vessel. Sailing the strait of Juan De Fuca off Vancouver Island, it was cold on the open bridge. We ate lunch in the tiny officers mess and I was absolutely ravenous. I learned that aside from old ships still in use, the crews ate very well indeed. That memory came flooding back when we walked past the Coast Guard Ship, Samuel Risley, and glanced in the portholes to see the crew having breakfast.

I'm trying to eat more healthily this year to try and lose some weight for the wedding and to help my climbing. This has been my breakfast for the last week or so. This dieting thing isn't such a hardship, really...

Breakfast at the Pond Scum Cafe.

Robbed a chicken of her eggs and killed a pig so that I could stay alive.

Cheesy scrambled eggs with chicken sausages, toasted English muffin and coffee.

Yummy!

only the best way to start the day

... this morning! We are without a dining table at the moment - the one we had ordered was cancelled due to an error by John Lewis! So we are back to meals on our laps LOL. A fave breakfast for me is blueberries and cornflakes with a nice cup of coffee. Today it was Oatibix with raspberries and a few luscious cherries on the side plus a big mug of coffee to wake me up.

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend however far you have travelled in it. We have sun and showers again today - the garden loves it! - a tad windy at the moment tho'! xxx
