One of my abiding memories of Iceland will be the number and aggressiveness of the Arctic terns.
Some other stuff I hadn't realised is that they have surprisingly long lives and travel more in those years than most humans do in their long lifetimes. According to Wikipedia:
" ...previous research had seriously underestimated the annual distances travelled by the Arctic tern. Eleven birds that bred in Greenland or Iceland covered 70,900 kms on average in a year, with a maximum of 81,600 kms . The difference from previous estimates is due to the birds' taking meandering courses rather than following a straight route as was previously assumed. The birds follow a somewhat convoluted course in order to take advantage of prevailing winds. The average Arctic tern lives about twenty years, and will, based on the above research, travel some 2.4 million kms during its lifetime."

This morning I took a walk along the Grand River and came across this Bald Eagle eating his breakfast.
Some friends and I taking a picture after the morning Breakfast Club meeting. Not a lot to this pic really. Fixed the hair, arranged the lighting right and used filters until I got the look I wanted. I used the filters while I still have the pic in layers, so the subjects and the background have different filters. I know....not that exciting lol
a going-through-last-year's-photos kind of afternoon - it reminded me of this nice place where we had breakfast last February :) and some relaxing girl talk, of course.
This Robberfly was sucking the life out of the common housefly for breakfast.

El Camino Dining Room on old Route 66. One of our favourite haunts for breakfast on Saturday. This vintage neon sign still works and is lit every night. The restaurant was built around 1930 to serve the patrons of the El Camino Motor Hotel. out of shot, across the road.

Sausage and egg sandwich with chilli ketchup on toasted bread, a mug of Earl Grey tea and a glass of mango juice.
I made some pumpkin pancake batter and cooked up a giant jack-o-lantern pancake! Add some sausage, a little syrup and a glass of milk and you have breakfast for the All New Scavenger Hunt #2.
warm, fluffy crepes from Martha Stewart. Pick your delicious filling, but can I recommend some nutella or jam?
