A bit like the iPhone: simple rectangle but Apple patented its rounded corners (although the Apple brand did the rest of the magic, not this simplified design). Here we have a straight tower, but with rounded corners - perhaps less important than the red badge on top ;)

This is the Americana at Brand, L.A.'s newest beacon of American consumerism that opened on May 2, 2008 in Glendale. On the surface, it may look like just another mall, but with more than 75 stores and restaurants—plus a state-of-the-art movie theater and a park with a water fountain, it's definitely bigger than anything Los Angelenos have ever seen before.
#34/365 The trend in Southern California is mixing residential and retail since for years for some odd reason it was really not allow. This is the prime example of this trend. Not only is this place a great shopping destination, you can actually rent or own one of those condo's over the shops! Next week after I win the lottery I will have to snap some interior pictures for you. Side info...there is a shop here called Crumbs which makes the BEST cupcakes ever! They have interesting flavors like Fluffernutter, Caramel apple, Bostom cream. If I had half a brain I would have taken a picture of the cupcake before I ate it.
I know I've posted this exact scene before but when you get a new camera and have nice clear skies with an open area to shoot from, sometimes you have to go back to the well just to see how your new toy will compare to the old one.

This was going to be an HDR (I took three exposures from this POV) but the lighting wasn't quite right.
Branded Slave
The tattoo is not on the skin but inside us: a code imprinted in our DNA, in our blood, in our lives. It’s not about security, but control. We are not free, but modern slaves, branded by a system that keeps us captive. Decisions made by those in power are never for the people; even when they seem philanthropic, they always serve to enrich those who hold control
Some of you know that if I happen to cut myself, I bleed Ford Blue. Having said that, I believe the 1967 - 1972 Chevy and GMC pickups to be by far the best looking GM trucks. This one is very tastefully done.

We got up at 3AM on Saturday morning to make the 4 hour drive to Abraham Lake for the sunrise. It snowed pretty much all the way up there and when we arrived the lake was covered with layer of snow. It was very hard to find a place to park our car to get to the ice (it was our first ever trip to this area) so we've decided to drive past it and found a parking spot on the river bank instead. It was freezing cold (temp w/o windchill dropped to below -30oC), but thankfully without much wind (a lucky occurrence in those parts, I hear) and we set to wait for the sunrise. Our kids were patiently waiting in the vehicle, not willing to venture in this cold for too long. We saw a couple of herds of elk and heard some wolves in the distance, while we were waiting. It was a pleasure to finally see the sun emerging from behind a mountain, for we were turning into icicles ;D. The world was covered in golden glow regardless of the temperature..
