On a lark I bought this box on eBay for, I think $10.00, and when I received it I really thought I'd overpaid. Note screen door handle.

Each year, Gallery Route One in Point Reyes invites over a hundred artists to create unique works of art using a wooden box.

Here are the inspiring artworks they created this year: they range in style from whimsical to poignant and thought-provoking. These photos were taken on closing day, when the gallery organized a live auction for each of this year’s 150 boxes. The proceeds support the gallery’s exhibits and community programs.

Two of the boxes were created by members of our art community: Howard Rheingold (a.k.a. Dr. Rindbrain) contributed an illuminated box called ‘Magical’, while Geo Monley and Meryl Rubenstein made ‘Les Puzzles.’

Members of ‘Pataphysical Studios came to cheer for their peers -- Dr. Really was the highest bidder for Dr. Rindbrain’s piece, which was thus kept in the family. After the show, we all went to Stellina to celebrate over a nice dinner.

29/09/23 Par: A view of the soon to close Signal Box alongside Signal gantry PR5.

I had little luck getting shots on trains amongst the signals in sun so I took a few views as well to capture the doomed lower quadrant pegs.

This art box is about 8.5" tall. It's an old wooden pencil box which I filled with school related stuff.

Fish boxes at Lossiemouth harbour.

This is the box I chose to declutter on Day One. It took maybe 5 min.

An old telephone box seen at Bergen Junction. I doubt this box is still in use, as it's locked with a rusty old Adlake switch lock. The railroad stopped using these locks 20 years ago after some teens picked one open with a coat hanger, threw a switch, and sent a commuter train flying down an industrial spur at 60 mph killing the engineer and several passengers.

I have the old ERIE RR key in my collection that will open this lock, but I'm not about to try! There is also no reason for this T box here as there are no switches at this location and no reason to need to contact the dispatcher.

Navy blue box pleated skirt.

From behind this looks like any other solid coloured box pleated kilt. The difference is at the front as it is box pleated all round instead of having the overlapping front aprons of a kilt.

A bee box (for solitary bees to nest in) made by John Colman of Bee Happy.

Focal length: 10cm

Pinhole size (approx) 0.4mm

The paper is loaded halfway along the box and I use 3"x4" paper (actually half 6"x4").

Minha linda Dal Fiori chegou!!!

Vou trabalhar e a noite eu abro ela^^

Minha Dal Fiori vai se chamar Frutilly, igual o picolé dos anos 80/90! Gostinho de infância!

I made this for a friend's birthday. It started out as an unfinished, wooden craft box.

This is a small keepsake box made from reclaimed walnut. The outside dimensions are 8" long by 6" wide by 4-5/8" tall. The inside dimensions are 5-1/2" long by 3-1/2" wide by 3-1/4" tall.

The walnut came from an old award plaque discovered in a formerly abandoned warehouse. The completed piece was sanded smooth and finished with several applications of hand-rubbed tung oil followed by several more applications of a combination of beeswax, carnauba wax and orange oil.

This was a one-of-a-kind creation.

The Four Seasons Resort gave us each a lovely breakfast box as we had an early (4.00am) start to go to Luxor.

A presentation box for a canteen of cutlery, hand made from English Cherry with a book-matched Yew burr veneer on the top of the lid.

The slots to receive the cutlery were hand cut from plywood and upholstered in felt.

I used Brusso quadrant hinges to enable the lid to remain open at 90 degrees. To maintain clean lines on the box exterior, I used magnets to hold the box closed and created small dimples to assist opening.

The interior is finished with hard wax oil while the exterior is French polished with shellac.

Cupar box interior looking North towards Leuchars. Very tidy and containing a 32 lever frame. The train describer screen can be seen to the left of the big grey box on the block shelf.

Any info on the frame would be appreciated.

The height of the British summer,18th July 2012, saw me and my eldest set off from Nottingham for an Everton pre-season friendly at Dundee. What could go wrong ? Bhy the time we got to Edinburgh at lunch time the evening fixture had already been called off due to a waterlogged pitch !

I had arranged to visit my ex signal school colleague at Tay Bridge South where he was working the afternoon turn so I carried on regardless and pulled in two other boxes on the way.

These are the very grey images from that afternoon.

Flat 20-sided tato box by......me?

Not innovative or useful really, but not bad for somebody who knows neither math nor origami and made this from scratch in Photoshop.

The flaps don't really form a nice circle in the center and there's that hole, so does that mean I should try shaving 1mm off the radius or learn to fold better?

CP for pointing out flaws, or storing a flat cookie if you have (the collapsed center touches the base, so spread your Florentine out VERY thin).
