Every year the kids make up a love box for xmas. This year they had to make a box for a child of the same age as they are. Miguel was so excited – but he insisted that we could not do only 1 box – according to him we must do more as he knew that that was what God would want. How can you argue with that, so the boxes became a family effort, my mom sponsored 1 box & my sister 3and so we ended up with 6 boxes!!
I would really encourage everyone to do at least one of these a year... the smiles were priceless & for just one day these children had the world at their feet & nothing else mattered. Not the hunger, aids, an unsure future, nothing .... just kids opening presents. Where even a toothbrush and toothpaste were treated as the most valued of items, to be shown about and looked at with reverence – as most of them had never even owned one before.
The Girls boxes consisted of :
2 colouring books
pencil crayons
sweets
packets of kool aid
2 bars of soap
toothbrush and toothpaste
face cloth
panties
a t-shirt (barbie pincess of course!)
packets of biscuts
hair clips
baby doll with a blanket & nappies that I made.
On the subject for about the doll - oh my word I have never realised how had it is to find african dolls!! As we knew these boxes were going to african children we wanted to by and appropriate doll for them so that they could have somthing that was just like tehm. Well i am truly shocked and dismayed at the lack of dolls that are not white!! I looked every where for 2 weeks before I find these very cute and cuddly babies. Appart from insanly priced african barbies there is nothing! How can this be? I mean I live in Africa so how can there be no African dolls??

Here are some of the parts for a new cigar box guitar I'm working on.
We found this house built out of an old railroad box car. It has been added on to so as to make a "double wide." As far as I could tell, this house was built this way because of poverty, not as a gimmick for tourists.
As I was going through my photos I noticed the home owner is standing in the doorway watching me.

Vitriol Works signal box located on the up side of the line at Chadderton. Thursday 18th February 1988
Vitriol Works signal box is a British Railway London Midland Region Type 14 design fitted with a 65 lever London Midland Region Standard frame which opened in 1953 in connection with the new Chadderton B electricity generating station, replacing a 1903-built 46 lever Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Standard design signal box located a few yards to the north. All of the glazing at the Manchester end of the signal box, with the exception of one pane by the front corner was bricked up in spring 1988 (the scaffolding can be seen in place). More problems with the windows meant the sliding sashes were replaced by 1997. The signal box was rewindowed and a new set of metal steps were provided in the mid-2000s
The signal box is fitted with a pair of British Railways London Midland Region maroon nameplates
Behind the signal box's location when the railway opened was Messrs Hannibal Becker and Company's works. It is shown on the 1848 Ordnance Survey map as Slacks Valley chemical works, and although the works does not appear to have been rail connected the name is thought to originate from the works
Thanks to Ingy the Wingy for the above info and for supplying the exterior illumination of the signal box by using his car headlights.
A gift box of 6 chocolate cupcakes filled with gooey homemade caramel topped with vanilla buttercream and handmade fondant decorations.
Radical slogans like "Equal Protection" and "Due Process" are festooned on the outside of the boxes.
Hexagon tessellation Box
Hexagon from 15x15 tant paper
32 division grid (in the center area)
3.6.3.6 tessellation in the center
After that, I collapsed this tess into an hexagon box (upper lid).
And added a botton box made with the same technique.
I have also uploaded a picture of this hexagon box. I looked for a box like this but could not find what I needed (a single sheet hexagonal box without seams on the top), so I did one.
I don´t know if that box is my design. Anyone has seen it previously?.
Typical storage boxes contain your items, but the inside becomes cluttered – making it difficult to find what you need. Rubbermaid’s Bento collection is designed to organize items, rather than just store them. The Bento Boxes have internal flex dividers, which enable you to divide the space by creating unique sections when needed. Boxes can stack vertically, or fit inside each other. Bento Trays can act as trays or covers, providing an extra layer of organization for the Bento Boxes, or hiding what’s inside. The Bento Collection is made from sturdy materials, and the heavy-duty decorative fabric enables it to remain out in your social spaces while complementing your home’s décor.

For Our Daily Challenge - Box
From a book (Impressionist Garden Gift Boxes) of punch-out-easy-to-assemble small gift boxes. There were 18 and these are the last four. I have never seen a book of them since. The book was crazy expensive but I found it on a reduced-to-clear table at a bookstore. One of those good finds. The promo says - Perfect for candies, jewellery, love notes, small gifts, special treasures.

This is the only damage that made it through both the outer and inner boxes. Nothing damaged inside though.

Inside a magic shop, cut in half! This was the first photo I tried tweaking the environment before taking the snapshot. There's another where Hilly actually looks dead - her eyes are closed and her skin pale, but you can't really tell what's going on with the box, so I chose this one.
Worthing West signal box was located by the Down Main line alongside South Farm Road level crossing, and was a Saxby and Farmer Type 5 design which was opened in 1877 by the London Brighton and South Coast Railway. The signal box was renamed Worthing Central "B" on 5th July 1936. The signal box was renamed again Worthing "B" on 4th March 1968 and was further renamed Worthing on 30th December 1973 when control of Worthing station passed to the signal box after the closure of Worthing "A" signal box. Closure came on 4th June 1988 when signalling between East Worthing and Durrington-on-Sea passed to the new signalling panel in Lancing signal box, the level crossing being controlled by closed circuit television from Lancing signal box

Each year, Gallery Route One in Point Reyes invites over a hundred artists to create unique works of art using a wooden box.
Here are the inspiring artworks they created this year: they range in style from whimsical to poignant and thought-provoking. These photos were taken on closing day, when the gallery organized a live auction for each of this year’s 150 boxes. The proceeds support the gallery’s exhibits and community programs.
Two of the boxes were created by members of our art community: Howard Rheingold (a.k.a. Dr. Rindbrain) contributed an illuminated box called ‘Magical’, while Geo Monley and Meryl Rubenstein made ‘Les Puzzles.’
Members of ‘Pataphysical Studios came to cheer for their peers -- Dr. Really was the highest bidder for Dr. Rindbrain’s piece, which was thus kept in the family. After the show, we all went to Stellina to celebrate over a nice dinner.
