I met Auggie on MySpace before I began attending Columbia College Chicago in Fall 2007. He was going to go there too, for film. We met at the Columbia convocation (sort of like some weird carnival event for freshmen), and he gave me a card to his church, Metro Praise.
"No thanks," I said. "When I'm finally allowed to go to church, I want to go to the one my friend Vanessa goes to."
I had no idea that both Vanessa and I would end up there, and that Auggie would become one of my closest friends.
Over the last year, I have had a blast with this guy. He is absolutely hilarious and I have had more awkward moments with him than anyone in my life. People are totally convinced we'll end up together, but in all honesty... we'd both probably rather eat dirt.

Gateshead Evangelical Church is celebrating its 100th anniversary after being established as Vine Street Mission in 1916 where Sister Winifred Laver met the needs of the poverty stricken community of Gateshead through both physical and spiritual help. As time went on, the mission grew tremendously and eventually moved to a new plot of land. Gateshead council constructed the building that the church now meets in to reach the local community.
The congregation consists of people of all ages, from various different countries and walks of life who are all brought together under the common ground of Christ Jesus, their Lord and Saviour.
Their testimonies speak of how they became Christians and the transformative impact this has had on them individually. They are a spiritual family who care deeply for one another and strive to live out the many ‘one another’ passages mentioned throughout the Bible.
What if Jesus returned tonight? Are you ready to stand before the Lord? Are your sins forgiven? Have you repented and put your faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation?
Your good works will not save you...going to church will not save you...being nice and polite will not save you...Your good deeds will not outweigh your bad deeds. You will not sneak into Heaven's back door somehow because of the virtuous life you think you lived.
1 Timothy 2:5 says:
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus:
Only faith in Jesus Christ will save you from Hell.
Realize you are a sinner and deserve nothing but eternity
in the lake of fire, cry out to God and confess your sins to Him.
Repent (turn from sin to God) and by faith alone, receive Jesus Christ as your savior.
Walk with God daily, Put God first, Live Holy.

When I accepted Jesus and got saved, Vanessa, the girl I had rejected immediately for preaching to me, taught me more and more about God. I ended up truly wanting her in my life. She wanted to take me to church. I wanted to go. But, there was a problem.....

If there is one thing everyone knows and remembers about me, it's how stressed and full of anxiety I have been all my life. Mostly from school. I've been known to make things bigger than they are, and even now, if I'm not careful, my prayer time becomes "worry time." But all the while I was backslidden, I never realized that the only reason I made it through was because Jesus carried me.
