Had a chance to visit with an old friend Sunday morning prior to heading to the family for the holiday. After grabbing several snacks (i.e. fish), this Great White Egret finds a good perch to do some spring cleaning, oh I mean, preening! Enjoy!

*Working Towards a Better World
My people are few. They resemble the scattering trees of a storm-swept plain...There was a time when our people covered the land as the waves of a wind-ruffled sea cover its shell-paved floor, but that time long since passed away with the greatness of tribes that are now but a mournful memory. -
Chief Seattle, The Chief Seattle's Speech
The first time it was reported that our friends were being butchered there was a cry of horror. Then a hundred were butchered. But when a thousand were butchered and there was no end to the butchery, a blanket of silence spread.
When evil-doing comes like falling rain, nobody calls out "stop!"
When crimes begin to pile up they become invisible. When sufferings become unendurable the cries are no longer heard. The cries, too, fall like rain in summer. - Bertolt Brecht, Selected Poems
I once spoke to someone who had survived the genocide in Rwanda, and she said to me that there was now nobody left on the face of the earth, either friend or relative, who knew who she was. No one who remembered her girlhood and her early mischief and family lore; no sibling or boon companion who could tease her about that first romance; no lover or pal with whom to reminisce. All her birthdays, exam results, illnesses, friendships, kinships—gone. She went on living, but with a tabula rasa as her diary and calendar and notebook. I think of this every time I hear of the callow ambition to 'make a new start' or to be 'born again': Do those who talk this way truly wish for the slate to be wiped? Genocide means not just mass killing, to the level of extermination, but mass obliteration to the verge of extinction. You wish to have one more reflection on what it is to have been made the object of a 'clean' sweep? Try Vladimir Nabokov's microcosmic miniature story 'Signs and Symbols,' which is about angst and misery in general but also succeeds in placing it in what might be termed a starkly individual perspective. The album of the distraught family contains a faded study of Aunt Rosa, a fussy, angular, wild-eyed old lady, who had lived in a tremulous world of bad news, bankruptcies, train accidents, cancerous growths—until the Germans put her to death, together with all the people she had worried about. -
Christopher Hitchens, Hitch-22: A Memoir
It is not what you can do for your country, but what you can do for all of mankind. - Mike Norton
Anarchists did not try to carry out genocide against the Armenians in Turkey; they did not deliberately starve millions of Ukrainians; they did not create a system of death camps to kill Jews, gypsies, and Slavs in Europe; they did not fire-bomb scores of large German and Japanese cities and drop nuclear bombs on two of them; they did not carry out a ‘Great Leap Forward’ that killed scores of millions of Chinese; they did not attempt to kill everybody with any appreciable education in Cambodia; they did not launch one aggressive war after another; they did not implement trade sanctions that killed perhaps 500,000 Iraqi children.
In debates between anarchists and statists, the burden of proof clearly should rest on those who place their trust in the state. Anarchy’s mayhem is wholly conjectural; the state’s mayhem is undeniably, factually horrendous. - Robert Higgs
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜
Our Lady of Pompeii has it origins in the Saint Raphael Society for the Protection of Italian Immigrants. This Society was founded to care for the many Italian immigrants of the day, who, it was feared, would fall prey to those who would exploit their labor or overcharge them in the course of their travels. In 1890, Father Pietro Bandini came to New York City to organize a branch of the Society. Father Bandini purchased a building at 113 Waverly Place, which is still standing, and began his work ministering to immigrants. He helped them negotiate the legal hurdles of migration, contact relatives in the United States, to find work. He also provided spiritual assistance at a chapel, which he named Our Lady of Pompeii.

Pastor Mike & his wife baptising a couple who have decided to follow Jesus. They were baptised in the Maitland River according to the Bible that says in Acts 2: 38 : And Peter said to them, “Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

... not with this shot for this week's theme: My Favorite Novel (Fiction). For the life of me, I could not figure out how to do this MACRO style.
Did you figure it out? On the left, a "Left" turn sign I made with paper this morning. On the right, the "Behind" of Miss Teddie Smith. My favorite fiction novel (well the whole 16 book series) is Left Behind, a series of 16 best-selling religious novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, dealing with Christian dispensationalist End Times: the pretribulation, premillennial, Christian eschatological interpretation of the Biblical apocalypse.

"Come To The Water"
O let all who thirst
Let them come to the water
And let all who have nothing
Let them come to the Lord
Without money, without price
Why should you pay the price
Except for the Lord?
And let all who seek
Let them come to the water
And let all who have nothing
Let them come to the Lord
Without money, without strife
Why should you spend your life
Except for the Lord?
And let all who toil
Let them come to the water
And let all who are weary
Let them come to the Lord
All who labor without rest
How can your soul find rest
Except for the Lord?
And let all the poor
Let them come to the water
And let the ones who are laden
Let them come to the Lord
Bring the children without might
Easy the load and light
Come to the Lord
Come to the Lord
Come to the Lord
Come to the Lord
I will run to you, I will run to you
I will run to you my Lord
I will run to you, I will run to you
I will run to you my Lord

While visiting the Dubois Park last week I was so excited to see a couple of people being Baptized by Pastor Issac from the Mipan church, When someone decides to “get right with God,” part of the “outward sign” of accepting Jesus as their savior is being baptized. It is an exciting time. John 1:33
Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) (See The Morning Album Version) By Chris Tomlin)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2TL2VaUR3o
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found
Was blind, but now I see
Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

1. Regeneration is the divine work of God the Holy Spirit upon the minds and souls of fallen people, by which the Spirit quickens those who are spiritually dead and makes them spiritually alive. This supernatural work rescues that person from his bondage to sin and his moral inability to incline himself towards the things of God. Regeneration, by being a supernatural work, is obviously a work that cannot be accomplished by natural man on his own. If it were a natural work, it would not require the intervention of God the Holy Spirit. 2. Regeneration is a monergistic work. “Monergistic” means that it is the work of one person who exercises his power. In the case of regeneration, it is God alone who is able, and it is God alone who performs the work of regenerating the human soul. The work of regeneration is not a joint venture between the fallen person and the divine Spirit; it is solely the work of God. 3. The monergistic work of regeneration by the Holy Spirit is an immediate work. It is immediate with respect to time, and it is immediate with respect to the principle of operating without intervening means. The Holy Spirit does not use something apart from His own power to bring a person from spiritual death to spiritual life, and when that work is accomplished, it is accomplished instantaneously. No one is partly regenerate, or almost regenerate. Here we have a classic either/or situation. A person is either born again, or he is not born again. There is no nine-month gestation period with respect to this birth. When the Spirit changes the disposition of the human soul, He does it instantly. A person may not be aware of this internal work accomplished by God for some time after it has actually occurred. But though our awareness of it may be gradual, the action of it is instantaneous. 4. The work of regeneration is effectual. That is, when the Holy Spirit regenerates a human soul, the purpose of that regeneration is to bring that person to saving faith in Jesus Christ. That purpose is effected and accomplished as God purposes in the intervention. Regeneration is more than giving a person the possibility of having faith, it gives him the certainty of possessing that saving faith. 5. Regeneration is a gift that God disposes sovereignly to all of those whom He determines to bring into His family. - The New Birth, Tabletalk, March 2007, p. 6-7
Lord Jesus, fill me with your Holy Spirit and inflame my heart with the joy of the gospel. May I find joy in seeking to please you just as you found joy in seeking to please your Father".
Verse 1
Today I found myself,
After searching all these years,
And the man that I saw,
He wasn't at all who I'd thought He'd be,
I was lost when You found me here,
And I was broken beyond repair,
Then You came along and sang Your song over me
Chorus 1
It feels like I'm born again
It feels like I'm living
For the very first time
For the very first time,
In my life
Verse 2
Make a promise to me now,
Reassure my heart somehow,
That the love that I feel,
is so much more real than anything
[Born Again Lyrics On www.elyricsworld.com/ ]
I've a feeling in my soul,
And I pray that I'm not wrong,
That the life I have now,
It is only the beginning
Chorus 2
It feels like I'm born again
It feels like I'm living
For the very first time
For the very first time
It feels like I'm breathing
It feels like I'm moving
For the very first time
For the very first time
Bridge
I wasn't looking for something that was more,
Than what I had yesterday,
Then You came to me,
Then You gave to me,
Life and a love that I've never known,
That I've never felt before
Final Chorus
It feels like I'm born again
It feels like I'm living
For the very first time
I'm living for the first time
It feels like I'm breathing
It feels like I'm moving
For the very first time
I'm living for the first time,
In my life

This is a gold-lacquered statue of Buddha that is displayed at the McClung Museum in Knoxville. It dates from the Ming Dynasty. My photo of this statue reminds me of a story from the Buddhist Jātaka tales. These are Buddhist morality tales, which harken back to India's antiquity. This is a tale entitled, How a Vain Woman Was Reborn As a Dung Worm. I have shortened the story.
—
Once upon a time, King Assaka, who reigned in Potali, lost his beloved wife, Ubbari. He knew her as graceful, charming, and very beautiful.
Upon her departure, the king plunged into grief, becoming increasingly depressed and miserable. He had her body laid in a coffin, embalmed with oil and ointment, and laid it next to his bed. There he lay in a deep depression. He went without food. He wept for hours and wailed.
In vain did his parents and kinsfolk, friends and courtiers, priests and laymen, bid him not to grieve.
In his effort to help mankind become a little more enlightened, a Bodhisattva decided to come down and visit the earthly king.
Upon learning who his visitor was, the first thing that the king asked was, "Do you know where my queen has come into being again?"
"Yes, I do," replied the Boddhisattva.
The king asked, "Where?"
The Bodhisattva replied, "O king, she was intoxicated with her own beauty. She fell into negligence in doing fair and virtuous acts; so now she has become a little dung-worm in this very park."
"I don't believe it!" said the king.
"Then I will show her to you, and make her speak," answered the Bodhisatva.
"Oh, please make her speak!" said the king.
The Bodhisattva commanded: "Let the two that are busy rolling a lump of cow-dung come forth before the king!" By his power he made them do it, and they crawled forth.
The Bodhisattva pointed one out to the king: "There is your Queen Ubbari, O king! She has just come out of this lump, following her husband the dung-worm. Look and see."
"What! My queen Ubbari a dung-worm? I don't believe it!" cried the king.
"I will make her speak, O king!"
"Pray make her speak, holy sir!" said the king.
The Bodhisattva gave her the gift of human speech.
"Ubbari!" he cried out.
"What is it, holy sir?" said the dung-worm in a human voice.
"What was your name in your former character?" the Bodhisattva asked.
"My name was Ubbari, sir," she replied, "the wife of King Assaka."
"Tell me," the Bodhisattva went on, "Who do you love best now -- King Assaka or this dung-worm?"
"O sir, Assaka was my former life," said she. "Then I lived with him in this park, enjoying shape and sound, scent, savor and touch; but now that my memory is confused by rebirth, what is he? Why, now I would kill King Assaka, and would smear the feet of my current husband the dung-worm with the blood flowing from my former husband’s throat!"
In the midst of the king's company, she uttered this poem to help better explain:
'Once with the great King Assaka, who was my husband dear,
Beloving and beloved, I walked about this garden here.
But now new sorrows and new joys have made the old ones flee,
And far dearer than Assaka my worm is now to me.'”
When King Assaka heard this, he repented on the spot. At once he caused the former queen's body to be removed from his room and washed his head. He saluted the Bodhisattva, and went back into the city, where he married another queen, lived fully, and ruled in righteousness.

Oggi dedico a me questo scatto che ho fatto domenica.
Perchè oggi "rinasco",come 26 anni fa.
Self-made woman , direbbe qualcuno.
E allora, Auguri a me :)
_________
This shot is for me, because today is my birthday...!
well, just 26 years old...
looking back I see mistakes and right choices, people, love, experiences... Then I realize what I am now.. Actually someone I really like and I'm happy with :)
a sort of self-made woman .... So, happy birthday to me :)

SINNER! ELMER GANTRY WANTS YOU!
To save your soul! To see the light! He wants you to know all about heaven . . . But not about his whiskey and his women!
"The greatest, most vital, and most penetrating study of hypocrisy that has been written since Voltaire."
[Literary Review]
"Elmer Gantry" was one of Burt Lancaster's most memorable roles. Here he is singing "I'm on my way to Canaan land."
If you’re wondering “Does Hell await me?” all you need to do if look at this mans list. I must admit according to this information I am destine for the everlasting “Lake O’ Fire”. Masturbation and I go way back and I don’t see that friendship coming to an end anytime soon. I may in fact be “Sexually Immoral” as well. I have no idea really since morality is relative, but I’m guessing their opinion in that matter would be immorality. I like how Pagans are on the list of those that will be cast into hell. It is my opinion that if the Pagan religion were the more successful of the modern religions, the world would be a much better place. I guess violence prevails as the most violent religions seem to be the most successful in sticking around.
Format or not to format....that's the question, and I answered incorrectly twice this weekend. We learn from failing not from success. If I had been successful all this time I would never have learned about RescuePRO, File Recovery Utility.
I haven't done much for shooting since our July road trip to Vegas. Late this last week I managed to drag my ass out of bed earlier than usual with the lure of the "blue moon". Not to mention Blue Moon is one of my favorite brews, (I have many) .
So after getting my ass up out of bed extra early on a work day and being excited about capturing a epic event, the blue moon, I managed to delete all the images that I captured that morning and downloaded to lightroom, after too many Blue Moons,. Actually after too many Bud Light Platinum's. I was a bit distraught but being comfortably numb, I didn't lose any sleep over the loss. After waking up and regaining my hungover sense of loss, I remembered a tiny little recovery disc that came with the ScanDisk Compact Flash cards I've been using. Low and behold it worked! Downside it saved and downloaded all the Images from a year and a half ago that I had previously downloaded and formatted. Lots of churn time on the computer and then after that lots of churn time by me. Much slower than the computer.
Not the first time I f_ _ _ed up and bucked a headwind because of a bad decision or too many Blue Moon's. Synonymous? Wish it was.
Have a great rest of the Labor Day Weekend!

Sister Elizabeth is the wife of the main Christian Warrior Todd who actually goes by the name “Micah”. So far I have not seen Elizabeth preach much but she certainly has her place in the flock. Her main objective is to talk about what a dutifully complying wife she is and how all the on looking sinful women should go home to cook, clean and be obedient to their men. I believe she is also used as the master of ceremonies since she has been introducing all the very honorable men before they get up on the stoop and belt out the word of their Lord. Her speech giving technique is likening to Dana Carvey’s impression of “The Church Lady” from old Saturday Night Live episodes. She always starts out with the phrase “Listen up boys and girls” screeching like a cat in heat, and goes on to expound on why we are going to hell for masturbating and other sexually immoral activities. She almost always ends her sermon with discussion about how she has never masturbated and how wonderful her sex life is with “Micah”. Sometimes I get a chubby when I get too deep into thinking about it.

Crisis? What Crisis?
Video shows Bush got explicit Katrina warning
www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11627394/
Homeland Security officials have said the “fog of war” blinded them early on to the magnitude of the disaster. But the video and transcripts show federal and local officials discussed threats clearly, reviewed long-made plans and understood Katrina would wreak devastation of historic proportions. “I’m sure it will be the top 10 or 15 when all is said and done,” the National Hurricane Center’s Max Mayfield warned the day Katrina lashed the Gulf Coast.
Bush declared four days after the storm, “I don’t think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees” that gushed deadly floodwaters into New Orleans. But the transcripts and video show there was plenty of talk about that possibility — and Bush was worried too.
President, Chertoff were clearly told of storm’s dangers numerous times...
This is a symbolic image. The pandemic, fires and the selfish shortsightedness of humans has me feeling pretty hopeless. But fires make way for new growth. I don't have much hope for the world right now. But something new will come. Hopefully we'll be around to see it. Maybe not. It doesn't really matter much, anyway.
The rain hit me the last four times up at Gold Hill in the early summer. The last time was early June when we were on our way walking and poking through Gold Hill, the mining community on the America's Historic Registry. Today bore no portent of rain and changing aspen are starting to create Gold Hill-sides. I started out on Hill Street, one block off Main, but turned onto Suicide Hill Street. After converting several opportunities there, I turned onto Grove which becomes Dixon Road to visit the Gold Hill cemetery. Nothing appears to crimp the Gold Hill Style. This probably is not a common sight anywhere else. Proof that Chuck was a true born again person. In fact, only one birth could have been at Gold Hill where the first mine was the Horsfal Lode found in 1859. Was Chuck hurling a "splitter?"
This one, at least can't be a lie! It is writ in stone. Maybe this started the whole darned fad? Born again Christians get to hunt and kill abortionists just like born again ISists get to behead enemies of the IS state all in the same time the Saudis get to behead a hundred of the evil. Boy George got to kill thousands if not hundreds of thousands of the evil doers. Who would ever have guessed that Sadaam let anyone worship whom the wish and burned Kuwaiti wells for having slant drilled under Iraq. An we talk? I figure it is all about fossil fuel and a race for personal power. I believe in the God of Harvest and all the rest of them that make that happen! I don't even pray for rain anymore; WE GOT THAT!
Gold Hill is a remnant of the oldest Colorado mining days (1859) and I caught sight of this shot that most illustrates this fanciful mountain life. To say Gold Hill tops a mountain ridge is accurate with the road east and west rise slightly while Lickskillet, north, and Gold Run, south to Boulder, drop off the sides of the ridge. In fact, Lickskillet Gulch was navigable in a car. Never in March. As Wiki puts it: Gold Hill is accessible from nearby Left Hand Canyon Road via Lick Skillet Road, the steepest county road in the United States. It IS safe in first gear IF you have good brakes. Be very careful on your way down but when you get to Lefthand in the valley, you need extra caution in the canyon, As much as half the road is dirt and temporary to provide access after the floods. It is not ready for paving yet and there was no heavy machinery around. Yet again, I have to return to make a another stab at covering Gold Hill. The sprinkles warned us to backtrack down Lickskillet with alacrity. It was almost rain when we peeked at the cemetery. Lefthand Canyon was a mess and the road up the James to Jamestown is still locals only. A truck might be the best mode of transportation up there.
Gold Hill has lasted for decades through the original gold boom, the second gold boom, the silver boom and its 1893 demonetization and finally the return to reliance on gold and tungsten mining and processing. It has never completely died and is not accurately, a ghost town. It's history of transportation was a bit tortured considering one route was Lickskillet. I assume most transportation was to and from the Gold Hill Railway Station when the Switzerland Trail rails were laid west on its way to Ward. The steep sides of the canyon originally meant the road up from Boulder had to ascend the canyon. Old Gold Hill still lives on in this century-old mining camp. The narrow gauge route was never built from old Hill Station (see the map). The town continued to cling to the foothills above Boulder.
