A Mountie (Canadian Royal Mounted Police Officer) moose! Haha!
This picture was taken in beautiful Whitehorse, the capital "city" (basically it's a town) of the Yukon Territory in Canada, with a population of only about 30-35,000 people. It takes up about 70% of the Yukon Territory's population, and is one of the major stopping points along the Alaska Highway.
Taken at about 10:00pm.

This was taken in Tok, Alaska, USA, just before we left towards Whitehorse, which is in the Yukon Territory of Canada. We stopped at the Tok welcome & information center before leaving.
Another view of the bridge I posted a few days ago. This is a view from the bridge looking west towards France and was taken at sunset. The bridge which spans the Rhine River between Strasbourg, France and Kehl, Germany links the two halves of the Jardin des Deux Rives (Garden of the Two Banks). The bridge was jointly built by Strasbourg and Kehl and is frequented by cyclists and walkers.
The Full Pink Moon rises over the "Sleeping Giant" (aka Mt. Baker), the International Border of Canada/U.S.A. and the bordertown of Blaine in Washington State 🇺🇸
.
Looking southeast over Boundary Bay, the tip of Ocean Park in South Surrey on the left (with the White Rock Pier hiding behind it), over Semiahmoo Bay, to the shoreline of Blaine (20km/13mi away from where I stood), US Customs and Border Protection building on the left and the town of Blaine & Blaine Harbor Boating Center on the right, then beyond, over Lynden, WA to the majestic snow-capped Mt. Baker, 93km/58mi away.
.
Did you know that Mt. Baker is a glacier covered andestic stratovolcano? The last time it erupted was in 1880. It still shows signs of activity with steam plumes rising from Sherman Crater on cold clear days. It remains a potential hazard. 😳
.
Before it got too dark, I focused in on the slopes of Mt. Baker and left the camera's focus as-is while blue hour approached. I had tried earlier to focus on the town of Blaine as well but there was too much atmospheric noise from the bay which I assume was the cold air mixing with the warmth of the bay. The moon rose above just as planned but with a few clouds floating in front.

One of the hottest places in Canada is the road that leads to the Nighthawk Border Crossing from British Columbia to Washington State. Along this road you can find birds found no where else in the province due to its desert climate and sagebrush habitat. The Lark Sparrow is one of those birds that live in this very specific area. This was part of a pair busily collecting insects, mostly grasshoppers, for the young hidden away near a pile of granite boulders.

This truck crossed the closed USA-CDN border allowing only essential travellers due to the ongoing pandemic. The NHL hockey playoffs are taking place with the Montreal HABS playing against the Vegus Golden Nights. The Canadian government allowed hockey players to cross the border. There is no social distancing in Las Vegus, their arena is fully packed with unmasked fans, but in Montreal they only allow a small number, socially distanced and all masked.

As we walked across #RainbowBridge above the #NiagaraRiver from Canada back to the United States #BorderCrossing, we had to stop at the international boundary line that separates the two countries to take a photo while overlooking the #NiagaraFalls #Skyline! #HorseshoeFalls is off in the distance while #MaidOfTheMist is getting ready to take its voyage into the center of the Misty falls where the passengers will be soaked! This mighty #waterfall is a spectacular sight to see with your own eyes!

During 1952 the German engineer Fritz Fend (1920-2000) had developed his Kabinenroller into a small tandem 2-seater: the 1953-54 KR 175, which was succeeded by the KR 200.
In 1957 this KR 200 Kabrio was presented, which was followed by the KR 201 Roadster without window frames.
This microcar was built by the Regensburger Messerschmitt-Werk. When this company came into financial trouble in 1956, Fritz Fend took over the direction while the company was renamed Fahrzeug- und Maschinenbau GmbH. Regensburg (FMR).

"The hardest thing in life to learn is which bridge to cross and which to burn." - David Russell
------
Another long day; as travel days always seem to be. Worked my usual hours, and actually managed to get out of the office relatively on time, which is rare it seems when people start to realize you'll be away for a couple days.
Came home, had a quick dinner, packed and got the kitties ready for my absence (don't worry, Nard will be checking in on them while I'm in NY) and hit the road.
After a few pit stops in the city, I was finally on the road and just after 10:00 I'd arrived at Scott's place.
Snapped this just after crossing the border, I wish I had arrived with a bit more light in the sky though. I'm still not used to how rapidly we seem to be losing daylight hours this year. It seems faster and more sudden than years gone by.
Anyway, hope everyone had a good Thursday.
