Crossing from Republic of Armenia into Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. (This sign was the most "meaningful" thing that I was allowed to photograph – the checkpoint was off limits of course.)
Portable rapid spectroscopic technologies—which analyze the dispersion of an object’s light to determine the object’s chemical or molecular composition—may hold the key to a new era of product-safety screening. By allowing investigators to screen products earlier in the supply chain, these portable devices could significantly cut risks from contamination or counterfeiting of medicines, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and perhaps even foods. For more information, read this FDA Consumer Update: www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm274100.htm

The Amistad Reservoir was created in 1969, forming a giant lake where the Rio Grande and Devil's River meet upstream of Del Rio. The left side of the photograph is Mexico, with the United States on the right; a road connecting the two countries runs across the top of the dam, the two-story building in the center is a border checkpoint station. Although this picture taken at the end of July shows a fairly sedate scene, at the beginning of the month torrential rains over the mountains of Mexico overburdened the Rio Bravo, pushing the Rio Grande 38 feet above flood stage, straining the reservoir, forcing them to open all the flood gates to their maximum level. While the Amistad Dam was built primarily for flood control, mother nature can still throw a few curve balls.

In this simulated demonstration, FDA scientists show how to evaluate dietary supplements for toxic metals using a portable XRF analyzer. Within 30 seconds, the instrument will indicate if the sample passes or fails the screening test. Samples are marked, packaged and sent to a lab for further testing.

the second you step through the customs and passport control, there's a chain link fence to your immediate left and there's about five kids there begging and selling gum and cigarettes. it's instantly one of the saddest sights you will ever see.
A lot of Christian comics have really cool WWII, Eastern European, Nazi Concentration Camp, Eastern Bloc, and Communist settings and themes. People in those areas went through a lot.
If you'd like to read any of these comics, a lot of them can be found on this website:
www.carpsplace.com/spire/spire.htm
Also check out the bargain bins at comic book stores or garage sales at older houses in white neighborhoods.

Crossing the border from USA into Canada on foot across Rainbow Bridge.
To get to Canada from the USA, cross Rainbow Bridge from Niagara Falls, New York USA into Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. To leave the United States of America, walk through a self locking metal turnstile gate without needing to show any id at this point, half way across the Rainbow Bridge there is a bronze plaque on the bridge fence indicating the United States / Canada International Boundary Line, this area is also notated with the Canadian flag flying next to the USA flag. To enter Canada after crossing the International Boundary Line you must show your passport to customs agents before entering the country of Canada, there is no fee for this process but when you want to cross the same bridge back into the USA there is a .50 cent fee.
Walking across Rainbow Bridge takes under10 minutes, the time to show your passport to the agent at the Canadian border and the agents at the USA when returning to The United States of America cannot be determined as the time varies based on how many border agents or people trying to enter the country at any given time.
There are excellent views of Niagara Falls from both the USA and Canada, but they are both very different, the view of the falls from Canada shows a more natural less built up look, where as the view of Niagara Falls from the USA shows more of a city built up look.

With Poland and the Czech Republic joining the Schengen Area on 21 December 2007, barriers and controls dividing the city of Cieszyn (Těšín, Teschen) disappeared. The Friendship Bridge, which for 90 years witnessed the anxiety of crossing the border under watchful eyes of soldiers and customs officers, is now a site of leisurely walks.
Friendship Gate, a term used for border crossing at Chaman from Pakistan to Afghanistan, is actually an oxymoron. Pakistan and Afghanistan are always at each other's necks since the fall of friendly Taliban government. Present President of Afghanistan, Mr. Karzai, is American CIA's stooge and a confirmed anti-Pakistan. Though, it must be recalled here that he was once a minor in this political drama and stayed in Peshawar with ample support from Pakistani ISI. I am not sure why he later turned anti-Pakistan. His odd behaviour perhaps is part of American strategy for Pakistan.

This is the border between Derby Line, Derby, Vermont, America and Rock Island, Stanstead, Quebec, Canada.
But you're not supposed to cross here - there are two other nearby official crossing points, and a third just a short distance away, too - unless you're going to a specific destination right behind me, in which case you have official permission to do so, then come straight back here right afterwards.
But no loitering about, we even say it in six languages! :)
Stay tuned, will explain soon. ;)

An international railroad bridge over the Niagara River between Buffalo, New York, United States and Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. It consists of two sections. One is in this photo and takes the railroad between Canada and Squaw Island on the NIagara RIver. The other section to the right connects the island and the mainland over the Black Rock Canal. Both sections have a swing span to facilitate boat passage. The one pictured here on the right side of the bridge is no longer in use. The bridge opened on November 3, 1873.
I was not taking notes and unfortunately, the filters don't identify themselves into the EXIF data, but I believe this was through my B+W 6-stop neutral density filter and through a 3-stop Coking Graduated ND filter, and their P holder.
