This hydrangea hasn't quite decided whether it wants to be blue or purple. This "indecision" happens naturally when the roots find a mixture of alkaline and acidic soil. My garden is very alkaline, but in order for pink hydrangeas to create blue flowers, the soil has to be naturally acidic or ammended.

Explored, May 4th

A simple summer hydrangea arrangement with a few wilting roses included for an extra element of interest.

Wishing you a beautiful last day of July or first day of August, my friends, and thank you for your kind visits! 😊✨☀️✨🌙✨⭐

For the Saturday Smile topic: "copy collage"

HCC and HSoS ;o)

The challenge is to take an image, and make a collage using just the one image. The original was shot with my Helios 44-2 which is frozen at f2.8

... hydrangeas. This is the time when the glorious blue mop-head hydrangeas begin their autumnal colour migration. So I cut the last of the blue. Here with a hand-blown blue glass decoration ... and played with in Photoshop - of course!

Open Gardens Day - Blue hydrangea shrub.

in a container in my garden. I do love this colour - I have two containers with hydrangeas, the other flowers are pink. I've no idea why this should be, just 'luck' I expect 😃 !

Slightly edited in Topaz Studio.

Thank you for your visit - I hope you like my macro.

Enjoy what's left of our summer !

一年で一番日の出ている時間が長い時期ですが、梅雨の季節のため、なかなか強い日差しに巡り合えませんね。

Have a wonderful Sunday !

Did you know the color of hydrangea blossoms depends on the soil. ALL the hydrangeas on Cape Cod, where I grew up, were blue. When I moved out to western MA, they're all cream and rose... turns out the pines and oaks on the coast result in acid soil and blue flowers. Some people out here water their hydrangeas with vinegar water to get blue blooms !

Late blooming Hydrangea macrophylla of one variety or another. Lovely to see their lush blue globes of delicate blossoms as everything else fades to shades of gold and beige. Have a great week, my friends. And, if you're in the U.S., enjoy this extra day off! :)

I'll be away from Flickr for a while with summer visitors. I'll check in when I can ;o)

It's been blisteringly hot in West Michigan. Even today, after the heat dome has dissipated, the humidity and temps in the upper 80's linger. But the gardens are beginning their mid-summer display and they are beautiful.

After shopping and test photos on site, the Japonica event ended and I couldn't do what I had planned. My unconscious took me to Noa's garden (it has such good taste, delicacy, fascinating decoration and many trees and flowers). My gratitude to Noa Cloud for being so welcoming and extremely friendly.

I'm jumping from one event to another, I end up not taking pictures and I look like a snake swallowing its own tail. I have a lot of material to photograph but I have a creative block.

This photo is 74.6 MB, I could have done a close-up without losing quality, but my intention was to show the embroidered kimono and the garden.

It's either Endless Summer or Forever and Ever hydrangea that has pale blue blossoms, but only if there is enough acid in the soil. Taken with Laowa ultra macro V-DX 60mmf2.8 lens.

Blue Hydrangea

by Lana Del Rey

“Blue hydrangea, cold cash, divine,

cashmere, cologne and white sunshine.

Red racing cars, Sunset and Vine,

the kids were young and pretty.

Where have you been?

Where did you go?

The power of youth is on my mind,

sunsets, small town, I’m out of time.

will you still love me when I shine,

from words but not from beauty?”

The bouquet of hydrangeas expresses the gratitude of the giver to the recipient and also a symbol representing anything that is sincere.

Blue Hydrangea Blooms on the Farm. Better in the light box. Thanks for the look and have a great day

I took this with the Lensbaby Velvet 56 lens -- a fun lens to use and experiment with. It can be used for the effect of having a portion of the photo in focus (the center) and creating a soft, velvet-like look to the rest of the photo.
