Woke up today to frozen water meter in Colorado and morning temperatures in the single digits, so I felt it nice to work on images from a warm sunset on SoCal beaches.
I took this image over five years ago when I lived in San Diego. I loved living there and the friends I was surrounded by, but the lifestyle and the costs began to make less sense as I moved deeper into my retired professional life.
Now, living in rural Southwest Colorado, I enjoy time with my wife and dogs, I've met new friends and neighbors, I can spend as much time exploring nature as I choose, and not have to endure traffic or congestion, nor be hundreds of people deep in every place I want to go. Today was cold; but not horribly so. The lack of water slowed the day's start, but, did not grind my spirit to a halt. I was warmed by my immediate surroundings in our log home, a hot fire, a hotter wife, and some loving animals to keep my heart buoyed. So, here is an image that takes the cool blue tones of post-sunset and merges them with the remaining warm light of the evening, as an homage to how life can be both warm and cool, but always worthwhile.

Blue hour at an abandoned house in Pueblo County. The dark blue and magenta colors at the horizon are caused by the shadow of the earth.
This is the entrance to The Hague surrounded by modern architecture and always busy with traffic as you can see, but for the photographer always something to do there as a well-known hotspot.....
Yesterday I was going to shoot sunset once again, but I didnt get to my head where to go. I drove to nearby lake and started to walk on the ice and tried to find something to shoot. I missed the sunset, but finally I found a composition. there's not much bluehour photos on my photostream, but now there is one more.
I walked outside to find an unpredicted heavy fog and light rays emanating from the light at my neighbor's house. I rushed to get my gear and tripod, but by the time I was ready, it had almost completely dissipated. Oh, well.
Cold fog blankets Liberty Lake & the surrounding mountains - moments before sunrise. Soft, diffused light, the quiet of early morning .. lovely day!! (in explore)
With a sunset behind and a bit in the clouds I got this shot of lake acworth sort of in the blue, with the beach across the lake.

Here was an interesting exercise ... I wanted to have a blue hour capture here ... but not living next Gettysburg, could not be everywhere I wanted to be during the blue hours while we visited there for two days. This capture was made under the cloudy skies about 10 am in the morning.
I reversed engineered the white-balance and tint to create what blue hour would be here ... had I been there at 5:30 am :))
