Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus)
I've been busy this week, and will catch up over the next couple days. Weather very dull and grey.
My brother-in-law, Paul Fenn has just bought a DSLR, and joined Flickr, and it would be wonderful if you could find the time to visit him and offer some encouragement.

Today my respect for wildlife photographers has notched up a level. These 2 are from a visit to the wonderful WWT at Slimbridge yesterday. Armed with a long lens and in good weather conditions I sat in a hide with feeders outside and watched the birds coming and going right in front of me for a long time. I took about 200 shots, I deleted all but 6. I know these little blighters move fast, especially the blue tit, but boy! I don't know how all you twitchers do it!
These photos are dedicated to the delicacy and beauty of friendships and the sharing of our visions. Since becoming involved with Flickr, I've had the pleasure of getting to know people from different parts of the world. Some of you quite well, and some as casual contacts. Being retired, I probably spend more time on Flickr than the average person. But when I see new images posted by my friends, it always makes me feel better.
Several recent posts have been quite thought provoking. I probably write too much in some of my comments, but I just can't help myself. I hope you don't mind. I value these friendships more than words can express.

Commelina communis, commonly known as the Asiatic dayflowers, due to the short lives of their flowers. They are less often known as widow's tears. The flowers emerge from summer through fall and are distinctive with two relatively large blue petals and one very reduced white petal.
Commelina communis flower has a typical arrangement of floral parts: 3 staminodes are present above, 3 fertile stamens below with the central one differing in size and form, and a single style emerging between them (curved in this species).

Sometimes blue is cheerful. I can't think of too many blue
flowers that aren't.
The hydrangea is old-fashioned, yes; your grandmother
probably had one in her garden. But they are delightful
at every stage of their lives, even when they are brown and
dry as dust.
