The Blue Jay has been very difficult for me to photograph. Just when I have been ready to push the shutter, they are in the air and out of site. They are very beautiful but are also very aggressive and territorial. Groups of blue jays often attack intruders and predators. They often drive other birds away from bird feeders. The blue jay is also very vocal. It makes a number of different calls. I was very fortunate to find Blue Jays hanging around this bird bath in Eastern Nebraska.
Best viewed large.
Cool and pristine, the clouds stand proudly untouched, from the plane's window at 37,000 feet en route to Turkey.

The Jon Egging Memorial, Bournemouth
The Memorial serves as a permanent, dedicated location for local residents and visitors to pay their respects to Flt Lt Egging, and reconfirms the Town’s respect for the Red Arrows.
Flt Lt Jon Egging tragically died when his Red Arrows Hawk jet crashed after displaying at the Bournemouth Air Festival on 20 August 2011. Following the tragedy the strength of public feeling was evident. The Council decided to approach Flt Lt Egging’s family about the provision of a permanent Memorial in the Town, dedicated to Jon’s memory.
The memorial sculpture stands five metres high and is made up of three stainless steel contrails covered in red, white and blue glass discs with three glass Red Arrow jets soaring into the sky. The sculpture is accompanied by a memorial plaque which reads: "Always follow your dreams. Blue skies"
Jon was passionate about inspiring young people through a love of flying and enthusiasm for teamwork. The Jon Egging Trust has been set up to realise his dream by Jon’s wife Dr Emma Egging, his mother Dawn Egging, childhood friend James Godley and Red Arrow’s pilot Ben Plank.
The Trust has developed an exciting and unique youth engagement programme – Blue Skies – which provides new opportunities to help disadvantaged young people achieve their full potential.
The Jon Egging Trust’s Blue Skies programme is now reaching out to Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Dorset, providing nearly 50 young people with new opportunities to help them be the best they can be.
In recent weeks we have no real summer, but as familiar as every disadvantage has its advantage, you can with heavy rain and sun beautiful sky and sunset shots.
i have never see this before so blue sunset with a nice contrast.
what can i say, i got him :-)

Hi friends, i'm back but still busy with work, i missed u all, i'm in the last 10 days of work and trying to finish all that i've to do...soo i need holidays and i need relax and more free time to get some new photos..i hope u are all ok!! take care!! :)) and HMB offcourse....

Blue ice inside Iceland's Vatnajökull glacier.
Large amounts of water are blue because water absorbs most other colors of the spectrum. The same is true for ice when it is mostly free of air bubbles. Ice deep inside a glacier is under so much pressure from centuries of accumulated snowfall that most of the air has been squeezed out. This glacier's ice may be up to 1,000 years old in places, but it won't last for much longer. Iceland's glaciers are expected to all but disappear within the next 1-2 centuries as a result of climate change.

This Hydrangea is one of the prettiest I have ever seen. I guess it has something to do with the circle of white flowers surrounding the blue blooms in the middle.
For the group Get Pushed. Round 27.
My challenge partner in this round was R. Pahre.
The challenge was as follows: Anyway for the push: paint with light.
The classic way is a night shot with a friend waving flashlights around in a long exposure but I'm sure you can generate a bunch of ideas.
I must admit, I put this off for a little too long trying to think of different ideas. I had a few other ideas, but some windy and rather cold (for this time of year in Florida, anyway) weather dictated an indoor "studio" shot. Once I had an idea, I had to wait a couple of days because of the way my schedule was working out at night. This is one of the better results that I had.
I actually combined two different methods of light painting in this shot. First, I used the flashlight app on my phone, with an orange gel, and "painted" some light on the bottle to illuminate that. Then I took a small flashlight (although I think it was still a bit too big to produce the effect I really wanted) and taped two blue gels to the front of that. Some adjustments in RAW (started with a Tungsten WB and gradually worked it a bit warmer, bumped up contrast a little, toned down some highlights, all that good stuff), a few adjustment layers in CS6, and a slight crop. I must admit that doing this kind of light painting as a studio setup is a bit harder than I thought it would be (just getting the light trails to look decent), but it was nice to do something a little different.
(Also going to add this to ODC group 3, topic: Cold. It was a cold beer when I started, and cold-ish weather kept me inside, and I wanted the blue to help accentuate that "cold" feeling).
By the way, hoping everyone in the way of Hurricane Sandy and it's subsequent "superstorm" remnants are doing well and hopefully everything can get cleared up and back to normal in a timely manner
