Melbourne's impressive Block Arcade was constructed in 1891 and is as much a popular shopping precinct today as when it was built. The architecture is stunning.

I added another round to my first block to make it a little bigger. May do the same with the fuschia block from last night.
This is a “Bright Morning Star” quilt block. It is made using diamonds and triangles from different kinds of wood, all in their natural colors. I used some bright exotic wood on this one. There are 80 pieces on this block, 32 diamonds and 48 triangles, all full size. It measures 7” square. To finish them, I use one coat of varnish brushed on and 2 or 3 coats of a clear wiping varnish, rubbed in by hand.
The type of wood is listed on the bottom from the center out. On this quilt block the wood is “Oak” from Missouri, “Purple Heart” from Central or South America, “Satinwood” from Brazil, “Hackberry” and “Walnut” from Missouri.
