TITLE: "Blessings in Calligraphy"
SIZE: Two 18 x 18 canvases and two 10 x 10 canvases = 56" long and 26" tall
MEDIUM: Professional Acrylic Paint
CANVAS: 3/4" gallery wrapped canvas, sides painted black to coordinate, picture wire has been added so it is ready to hang - no need to frame
DETAIL: This is a unique painting that is able to be hung in a corner or flat on the wall. Its one of my absolute favorites! The symbols are Japanese Sosho Calligraphy. The symbols mean Dream, Truth, Wisdom, Faith, Joy, Peace, Beauty, and Love. The red is so vibrant and bold! Would look fabulous in an asian inspired room or a room with red accents.

SIGNATURE: My full signature, date, and title of the painting are on the back. Let me know if you'd like it on the front as well.
LONGEVITY: A double coat of varnish has been applied to preserve your investment against UV Rays and dust and provide a beautiful finish.

These kind of inscriptions were very common in 16th century. Whether to write down the name and vita of the builder or wishes or blessings. Other examples you can find in my stream

This is one of many statues you will see in Golden Gate Park around the de Young Museum,Japanese Tea Garden,Academy of Science. I shot around the park after visiting the Japanese Tea Garden. I have a list of places to see and I look foward to getting back there this year.

Blessing tree hung with tags at our wedding in August 2007. We used this instead of a guestbook -- everyone wrote a blessing or a wish for us. Tags were stamped with the flying swallows and leaf motif used on the invitations (stamps and invite design from PaperSource.com).
Yesterday, A friend and I went down to the beach for a much needed "girls day". She will be having her first beautiful baby boy any day now. What a beautiful blessing you are in everyone's life..K~ We can't wait to see Baby Luke.
I acually have a bunch of photos from yesterday so I hope you'all don't get bored of them.
We had such a wonderful time, we had the beach to ourselves and between the handfulls of sand being thrown on us by Jared, it was very peaceful. I have found through these shots that even if it is bright as can be and the sun was a bit harsh that you can still have fun and take some good photos,,,,work through the challange, huh...lol. Although It was quite a bit windy and I was trying to walk and take photos...we were able to relax and have fun...that is worth it all. It came up in conversation ...that as parents or just being a mother we love to show our children the things we love. Here in the top shot we have the outdoors, the beach, a plane, adventure and love. She(Kristy) is already influencing that precious baby more than she even realizes every minute of every day. She will be a wonderful mother~

I missed the morning light thismorning but how can you look at this and not say...wow! These rock are fantastic. Can you see the bits of snow from over night? It was all gone by noon. :(

Several women at the protest in Bundu waterfront on 12 October 2009 were beaten by members of the security forces. Blessing Odum, 44 years old and mother of seven children, had been part of the protest: “...Women decided to wear black on the day as a sign of protest and we stood at the prison road to stop the government from entering the community... We were more than 50 women. We were singing songs at the governor, asking him to leave us alone, we had reclaimed this land by ourselves. As we were signing, another armoured vehicle arrived with a group of soldiers in it. Then more armoured vehicles arrived with [more] soldiers in them. The soldiers started shooting. Everyone ran for life and shooting continued and teargas was fired... I ran away with another woman... Soldiers continued shooting for more than an hour. [When] we started to [go home to] check for our families, we were sighted by the police ... The police jumped off their vehicles and chased us. I was caught. The police slapped my face... I was dragged to the police car and was told to lie down. I was flogged by the police using a cable wire, baton sticks and a horse whip. I was hit all over my body... The police kept saying that we were trouble makers... During the flogging, the police poured teargas into our eyes. A woman who owns a restaurant close by was later to take us to her shop to help us clean our eyes but our eyes were very painful. We stayed at this restaurant for an hour. ... In the meantime, the police had broken into my shop.”
When Blessing eventually got back to her house, her door had been broken and the drinks she sold at her café in Bundu waterfront had been taken. Amnesty International viewed damage to doors and locks in Blessing Odum’s cafe.
