I can't believe this was a week ago.
It was a bit blowy so I sometimes had a skirt issue but at least My hair stayed put.

Arduino UNO provides 6 bit data and the necessary handshaking logic for a vintage Burroughs SSD0132-0040 Self-Scan gas plasma display c.1976. The row of LED blinky lights, aside from being mesmerizing, shows the state of the interface logic with delays built into the sketch to help diagnostics (on my first attempt I had the 6 data bits in reverse order).
The wire shrouded in red heatshrink tube on tag 10 of the lower connector is the +250 volt DC supply required by the Self-Scan

Taking the Hasselblad out of its comfort zone once again in one of my favourite Tokyo hang-outs, the famous (and now very crowded) Kabukichou.
It seems as though everyone has had a bit of an Alien fever with all the awesome Xenomorph themed posts and LEGO vignettes seen lately, and I am no different. Two weeks ago I got the idea to make an Aliens board game for my D&D group. We often like to play an assortment of board games and I thought I’d challenge myself to see if I could make one based off one of my favorite franchises for FUN (hear that 20th Century Fox, this is just for fun, not for resale). :)
Anyways, I’ve finally got all my items in order (i.e., board design, rule book, game tokens and, of course, LEGO built characters). Now I want to stress that I did not develop these ideas, as they are a composite of all the awesome builds I researched on Flickr these past few weeks. I really enjoyed Simon Jackson’s simplified Xenomorph MOC (as seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/tzidik/2374377008/in/faves-10119307...) as it was a small enough design to relate to the minifigures on the game board. A few days ago Tim Lydy built a miraculous Alien MOC (www.flickr.com/photos/timlydy/23268385550/in/faves-101193...), which I rebuilt just for kicks, as seen with the Queen Alien. Finally, the Queen was a build I purchased off eBay from Brick Brigade Toy Lab (as seen here: www.ebay.com/itm/271962293309?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l264... ).
I get to try out the game for the first time with my friends tomorrow evening to see how well it plays. I designed the board, cards and character sheets all based off Alien merchandise from the movies and comic series. Again, I did this just for kicks because I enjoy the saga so much. If anyone is interested in obtaining a copy of the gaming materials (board, rule book, item list, card images), I am happy to send you a link to my Public Dropbox folder where you can download it for free free free, just PM me and I’ll try and respond with the link as soon as I am able to. Feel free to modify the game and its rules, since it’s all just a hobby to me. Again, I’m simply appreciating the amazing genius Alien fans have put out into the universe and combined that all into an exciting table top game for those that want to play.
Bit of an unusual visitor to Swift coaches is this very smart looking Duple 425 recently acquired via ebay and new to Thomas of Cheltenham. it spent a while with Swanbrook before Ridlers of Dulverton in who's colours it is seen. Sadly I think it has been acquired for spares by another preservationist, although apparantly it drives well and looks pretty decent here.
Taken 10/01/17; Bishopstone Sation always strikes me as a bit of a curiosity as it seems to be over-thought for a station that serves the western fringes of Seaford. Even the name and location is slightly confused, but Wikipedia clarifies it succinctly "... before this station opened the first Bishopstone station was 0.6 miles further west at Tide Mills. That was closed in 1938 when the current station opened, but was subsequently reopened under the name of Bishopstone Beach Halt, and survived as such until 1942." The site of the original station owed much to the village of Tide Mills, which until it closed (circa 1900) employed up to around a 100 people. The hamlet of Bishopstone is slightly to the north (these days it is separated from Seaford by the A259).
Wikipedia covers the current station in some detail:
"The present station was designed by the architect James Robb Scott and opened on 26 September 1938, the same day that the original Bishopstone station at Tide Mills was first closed. The Art Deco design is said to be inspired by that of Arnos Grove tube station, which was designed by Charles Holden, and was intended to be the centrepiece of a proposed residential development that never took place due to the outbreak of the Second World War.
The main building of the station is symmetrical, with an octagonal central booking hall and two extended wings. One of these wings formerly contained the ticket office and parcels office, and the other contained a waiting room and toilets. As built, the station had two side platforms in a cutting, accessed by stairs from a footbridge linking to the main station building.
In 1940 a pair of pillboxes was built on the roof of the main station building, flanking its octagonal tower. Despite the times, considerable effort was made to blend these into the original structure, and they are thus well camouflaged.
The last member of staff to work at the station was withdrawn in 1988. Today the old booking office and parcel office is occupied by a small newsagents, and the remaining station facilities are disused; but the main access to the trains is still via the octagonal booking hall. The line was singled in 1975 and all trains now use the former up platform.
Bishopstone Station is a grade II listed building. Because it is unstaffed and unsupervised, and the fact that it is largely boarded up and disused, it is on English Heritage's at risk register."
Bit of a zoomed in shot on Shelby "flipping me off." She got an advanced copy of this and LOVED it!.
I greatly cropped in the image so that Shelby was the only person fully in frame, used a B&W layer with a sepia tone, masked her out so that she's the only one in full-color, blurred the background a bit (again, to draw your focus on her), then used a few Nik Software's filters (Color Efex Pro - Pro Contrast / Dynamic Skin Softener / Darken-Lighten Center).
I'm really pleased with the results as it has depth or a 3D feel to it.
something a bit different again for me today! these are a few of the shots from the model shoot i did
i was asked to take some shots of some "up-do’s" for a hairdresser friend i know for their books so customers can flick through and choose a look they want etc
i wanted to have a shooting partner so i asked “Elliye” who i was friends with on flickr and twitter and luckily she said yes!
we got a number of shots of the hair, these were slightly different from previous model work i'd done as the emphasis was on the hair and not the face
i also took some candids around the salon to mix in with the more posed shots (these were my faves!)
i kept them all fairly high key and processed them all in the same style so they would work cohesively as a set
so far the feed-back has been great and we may be looking at more challenging projects in the future!
so if anyone wants a fab hairdresser in leeds please go to www.hirstandmiller.co.uk !

Bit of a change up with a round in Welly Central. Been raining all week, but a nice day for the race.
Had a bug going around all week, so I didn't feel up to riding, but went and got some snaps and a coffee. Shame as it looked a really fun loop!
Everyone's aiming for a rut right by this pole to avoid the worst of this bog.
