Bit of a busy background, but first time observing this particular bee mimicking fly! Apparently, it's typical for them to sun themselves in the springtime on piles of leftover fallen leaves, which is exactly what this one was doing. Interesting to see the pattern of the white hairs. Photo taken during a walk at Parc-nature du Bois-de-Liesse in Montréal, QC, Canada.
Pentax D-FA 100mm F/2.8 Macro plus off-camera diffused Yongnuo YN-560 III flash. This is a pretty large insect - not quite at MFD here, but close.

This was shot after the Riikka-thunderstorm sweep across Finland. Never had the chance to witness so many different types of clouds forming during sunset.

Mixing It Up A Bit For Seafood Polyamory - IMRANâ„¢
I love Japanese foods. Two of the best nearby Japanese places can tell it’s my order from my frequent orders of things like Salmon Lover’s Delight, etc.
This time I faked them out by ordering a Tuna Lover’s Delight. I’m polyamorous in good food and sashimi too. 😉😉
They did not disappoint. Look at how bright and fresh the tuna pieces were. Were, because they were Gone In 60(0) Seconds.

Bit of charity work from the archives! I’m doing a wedding next month, I wonder if I could get them to do it ‘o natural’… he he!
One final thing, I’ve just finished directing an animation and I would really appreciate it if anybody out there could use the power of social networks to publicise it and help out the students involved in its production. Many thanks guys…
MacroMondays theme: a wee bit of red
This is a very old book of Italian renaissance sonnets, that used to belong to my father, but it's mine now :)
The author of the sonnets on these two pages is Angelo Poliziano.
bit of a departure from my usual stuff!
i went on a night shoot with andrew.rickman and tiffkat to brimham rocks as the moon was fantastic and the sky was clear!
10pm, bitterly cold, frost on the ground
1st attempt – and forgot cable release!! duh! so taken with bulb, on a tripod, painting with a torch with one hand while holding the button with the other – and shivering to boot! (so not sure if thats stars moving or camera shake!!)
it was a fab experience and really interesting, i didn’t get any shots with the moon in them as it kept burning out – more practice is required here! (and i resisted the urge to do a composite!)
this was tweaked slightly in raw – but the moon was really making the lichen ‘glow’ like this!!
i was really trying to get the stars - and managed to get the big dipper in here! – again conditions were perfect to see the stars
so def something i want to try again!
have a great weekend!!
(PLEASE NO AWARDS OR PICTURES OR FLASHY BADGES)
this is how i spent my weekend! i went to the mountains to have an adventure with strangers who became friends. We played intense games and I fell a couple of times hahaha and there was a lot of mosquitoes o:

Bit late in the day for MacroMondays but made it! Macro and motion and focus are a challenging mix (usually only manage two of the three!!!) - deliberately gave this a grungy, grimy process to match the state of the chain (and the rest) on my bike!

#65 - Wheels (112)
Bits and pieces (Puffin Chunks!) of this MOC have been lying around for two years. Finally pulled it together for BZPower's BBC 55, changed the wings, gave her a club, and entered.
Equipment options are necessarily restricted due to physical limitations imposed by mobile frame power plants, however a recently hired junior engineer at Phayze Fructification, inc. proposed an innovative solution.
These groups of semi-autonomous assault drones function as discreet combat units slaved to a traditional manned frame. Partnering highly specialized frames with suitable bit clusters helps to compensate for weaknesses or maximize strengths.

I've been chewing on this idea for weeks now, but I just couldn't get my head past the Gundam OO "sword and/or rifle bits" style, which just looked like handheld weapons that fly around on their own. That's cool and all, but at this scale the whole thing just looked... wrong? I don't know, I just didn't like it.
But THEN! Then, I remembered Nanoha's fantastically destructive Blaster Bits (which is weird, because it's been a long time since I saw Striker S) and had a revelation! Sadly, I only have one of those Ninjago Holder Circles at the center of these guys, so after prototyping a few of these ideas in-brick I had to take the idea to LDD for further (and, if I may say, *successful*) exploration.
Even worse, I literally JUST received a bricklink order as I was having this revelation, so it's going to be a while before I get around to making another to get more of those holders. ><
Mechanically, I'd stick 2 bits to a plate and call them a 2-system frame.
