THE OFFICE a dinnerware set for one and a comment on technology and our lives. I once saw a 1960's science program that proclaimed computers would simplify our lives bringing a 4 day work week. I can only speak for myself, computers have had the opposite affect. Most of my meals are spent in front of the computer. The pace of our lives seems to be spinning out of control.

How can we accomplish everything before the day runs out? In the past eating was much more of a social activity shared with family and friends. Where we take the time to enjoy the people around us and share in a meal. Nowadays, people are shoveling food in by the gentle radioactive glow of a monitor, doing all this while trying not to spill the secret sauce on us or our keyboards.

THE OFFICE is dedicated to the individuals whose dining companions are often their computers. The monitor, a shallow plate that reminds us there is more to life than work. The keyboard, a shallow box for holding food items, a CD to serve as a small plate or coaster, a mouse which is a two sided spice dispenser and a mouse pad napkin.

This dinner set is loosely based on the Japanese bento box (lunch box). A bento box is a compact container designed to hold a single serving of rice and several side dishes. It is said that a bento prepared at home is imbued with the love of the eater's family.

No one ever reflects on their life wishing they had spent more time at work. Take a moment out of your busy day and enjoy life.
