The area around the parking lot for the Battery Point Lighthouse in Crescent City, CA is a benchmarker's dream. There are at least three benchmarks (Not reference marks, but full benchmarks) in the general location, and great views of a fantastic lighthouse, to boot.

Overlooking the runway and most of the Air Force Base with a surveyors total-station sitting on a benchmark.
We had seen a white something on the far shore of the lake and aimed for it. Turned out to be pvc filled with concrete and this marker. I want to log this but I can't find any evidence it is in the geodetic survey records. Most of them seem to be near roads. Maybe it was near a road before they built the dam?
UPDATE: I now think it is a marker that is design to track the shoreline of the reservoir.
