Near the main entrance to Fort Yellowstone, which now serves as park headquarters. Shortly after Yellowstone was established as a national park, the U.S. Army was dispatched to protect the resources of the park from threats imposed by those who would have destroyed or pilfered much of the its resources. There was no National Park Service at the time so the Army was the logical choice to police the activities of visitors to the world's first national park.

Technical Product Optimalisation is actually not a designing course: this assignment was to calculate how much a bench bends under a certain load. I just had to design this benchmark to do the calculations with.
We took a picture of the benchmark, then realized when we got home that it wasn't real. Just a prop to set the mood for that exhibit.

I've not come across this type before - a yellow plastic disc on top of a metal square which has been firmly attached to the ground. 'Permamark' on the base. Perhaps someone in the UK bench mark group has a clue?
