Not many people walk the Ernest B. Miller Trail in downtown, Kent, along the Cuyahoga River. But it's located in a scenic setting.

Rollins Savannah

Lake County, Illinois 2017

It is late Winter in this part of the world, nearly going into Spring and the trees are shedding their leaves, just like their sisters in the northern hemisphere.

Never understood this phenomenon. Does it happen in other parts of the southern hemisphere, too?

Walking to the tower for the sunset, I kept turning to get some shots.

Yeah, finally solved the problem of uploading big pics. My dongle was ill! No, I ddidn't have to see the doctor about it. Not even a tech nerd. Just thumped it a few times, reconnected and Viola!

Heavy processing here we come!

Okay okay okay. So I got the i and the o the wrong way round. Sigh. What can I say? Not enough IQ? Too late in the day? Typo? I'll just go and shoot myself, shall I? Make you happy. One less hippy. Nobody loves me. Brain the size of a planet and I can't tell me voilas from me musical instruments.

A portion of this morning's walk was on a dirt trail through the woods... right along the bank of the Fox River. The wind was cold, and the ground was frosty... but the sun was warm.

Last time I was in these woods, it was spring... and much warmer... and thickening with 'fresh green'! Like this:

But today without the cover of all that foliage... you see the slope of the land... the vertical pattern of thousands of tree trunks... the path that meanders it's way up the hill... the squirrel nests in the high branches... and the late autumn sun has a chance to light up the forest floor in amber tones. Just lovely!

Listen... can you hear the crunch of the leaves under foot? And the wind as it blows up the river valley and whistles through the bare branches? And the river as it laps against the crust of ice in the shadows along the shoreline?

You should have been here...

Happy New Year!

We went for a lovely winter's walk in some local woods this morning. It was properly Wintery and lovely - warm sun, big blue sky, starkness of the bare trees, ice everywhere and lots of friendly people out walking their children & dogs. Plus obviously it was bloody freezing.

New Year's Resolutions:

1. Be a better friend

2. Do or at least start to train for a 10k run

3. Eat more seasonally

4. Try not to eat too much cake when the baby's born.

going through my pictures, deleting some, exploring others for possibilities

When I realized that the trees outside were being pruned and today's prompt is 'bare trees' - I managed to find one ... my Japanese Maple- still full of tall gangling branches and sitting among the tall evergreens. #cy365 30/365
