Happy Boxing Day my lovely Flickr Friends.
I hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday.
Christmas in the Land of the Laid Back Deweys followed our usual tradition ... tea and presents (but not too early in the morning), then a bit of lazing around, then off to Salisbury Plain for our peaceful meander around the byways.
We've been lucky in recent years, because we've had quite a few bright Christmas Days, that have afforded us lots of photo ops.
Yesterday was NOT bright. Yesterday was grey, with a bit more grey and some drizzle thrown in.
But it was still fun. We still laughed at our own jokes, gave each other copious amounts of cheek, and we even got a few photographs. For me photography-wise, it was a day of trees in the mist ....

Sometimes the mundane is quite attractive. In this case, I have photographed nothing in particular, and yet that ribbon of light running along the bottom of the clay cliffs traces the South Access. Also known at Robert Service Way, this road is one of three main arteries that lead from downtown Whitehorse outwards. It terminates at the Alaska Highway, the motor route that can lead one south or north, out of Whitehorse, and away from the Yukon.
Photo taken with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 and M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.2 Pro. I also used a lightweight travel tripod for stability. All raw conversion and post processing was performed in DxO PhotoLab 6.1.0.
Foggy morning here in west suburban Chicagoland... and that means beautiful atmospheric layering and depth. It can be a challenge to capture, and have it look on-screen just as it was seen out in the woods in person. This particular shot 'feels' like what I saw... mmmmm... more or less. There seems to be an art to getting wonderfully luminescent fog shots, or maybe there's some sort of magic required... I don't know. Either way... I find myself somewhere lower down on the learning curve.
Well... I suppose if it were 'that' easy, what fun would it really be?! We'd all dearly miss that 'Aha!' moment when it all finally just seems to 'happen', no?! Never stop trying... never stop learning...
This was in the middle of my path, I had to cross the road to continue it. The view got me, I wish the sky was more interesting, but it is what it is.
Looking out from our balcony, I caught these golden bursts of colour amongst the clouds. The dusk was settling in and just beyond the trees could be seen the odd bit of light from city buildings.

A bare mature Ash tree, long shadows and strong winter afternoon sunshine on the way to Van Farm, Thorpe, Teesdale
I was sitting in the parking lot at the grocery store, when this bare tree caught my eye. Photo is taken through the blue glass at the top of the windshield, that was covered in raindrops.
