I was in Banff, Alberta, Canada during the summer of 1980, and had taken the ride in the cable car to the mountain top. I had shot three photos using my Asahi Pentax Spotmatic film camera through the glass of gondola as we were going up. Ten years ago, I scanned the negatives and posted the photos, having processed them as best as I could at the time.
My processing skills and technology had changed since that time, so I went back to the original scans to basically give it another kick of the can, so to speak. Rather than put them up separately, I combined the reprocessed images into this one.
I do suggest viewing this image large.

Red Chairs at Two Jack Lake
Banff National Park is located in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta. It was the first National Park in Canada, established in 1885. It contains some of the most dramatic scenery in North America.
The iconic Banff hotel is a sight to behold. This was shot in October on the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.
This image is more of a tourist snap shot but I was in awe of the view from the top of Sulphur mountain.
Info about the Banff Gondola and Sulphur Mountain:
The eight minute gondola ride goes up the impossibly steep mountain side. Then, 700 metres in elevation gain later, you are on the summit of Sulphur Mountain high above the town of Banff. From here, you can see six different mountain ranges stretching into the horizon.

After seeing sunrise at Lake Louise, we continued our hike up to and past the Lake Agnes Teahouse and the views were amazing.
The view down Banff Avenue of Cascade mountain is one of the most iconic views in Canada. On this particular day, Cascade mountain was partially obscured by clouds....
Drove the narrow winding Mt Norquay Scenic Drive and this was the view of the town of Banff from Mount Norquay Lookout.
A very busy area with the parking lot almost full, including one huge tour bus. We didn't know how the driver managed to get the bus up there, but I contributed it to good skill and practice makes perfect.
Thank you for your visit, wishing you a pleasant Sunday! 💕
Ever since I discovered this little spring-fed pool a few years ago, I've wanted to shoot it because of the old stumps that sit in a ring around it. I particularly like the tilt of these two.
Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada
From my spring 2022 trip to the Northwest.
Don't recall exactly where this was located, other than off the main highway through the park. One of my regrets about my foray into Banff was being unable to do much hiking, owing to time pressures. This was one beautiful NP, perhaps exceeding the beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
Just a beautiful patch of daisies and fireweed with the turquoise Bow River flowing in the background. Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.

A re-do of an image from several years ago, now that I know so much more about black and white conversions (and have much more powerful software).
Mount Rundle in the background
Mount Rundle rises in the background above the streets of Banff. Whether you drive through Banff or to Canmore, this mountain is always overlooking these towns. It’s one of Canada’s most recognizable mountains, best and mostly photographed when standing on Vermillion Lakes Road, with Vermillion Lakes in the foreground.
The Bow River effortlessly flows by the amazing Canadian Rocky Mountains adding a calm peaceful atmosphere. This is in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.

Had an amazing bike ride from Canmore to Banff, where we sipped our double espressos before heading back. A lovely way to spend a morning...and a 36km bike ride!
Here’s a two-image Vertorama of Banff town and Cascade Mountain… captured shortly after sunset from the top of Sulphur Mountain.
Have a great weekend everyone!
