Banff Springs Hotel is one of Canada's grand railway hotels built by Canadian Pacific Railway.[3] The present hotel property is made up of two main buildings, an eleven-storey tower, and the main block of the hotel.[3] Designed by Walter S. Painter, construction for the tower building, or the centre wing, began in 1911, and was completed in 1914.[3] The main block of the hotel was erected from 1927 to 1928, and replaced the original wooden hotel destroyed in a fire.[3] The original structure was a five-storey wooden building, able to accommodate 280 guests, was designed by Bruce Price.[3] On 24 June 1988, the hotel buildings were designated as a National Historic Site of Canada.[3]

Our next stop was Banff, both the town and the National Park. We took the Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain. From its top (2451 metres) you look down on the town of Banff and you have a view over 6 mountain chains.

Sulfur Mountain Gondola

Sulphur mountain is based in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies and overlooks the small town of Banff in Alberta. Sulphur Mountain Trail is an alpine switchback pathway which leads to the summit ridge of Sulphur Mountain. It will take the whole day to climb the mountain and back. So making the most of the Banff Gondola Experience, the cable cars have a glass panel in the bottom. They gain elevation quickly and can rock when the wind is blowing. It took about 8 minutes to lift from the bottom to the summit. Climbing an extra kilometer along the Parks Canada Vista Trail, known as the Banff Skywalk to get the most impressive and revealing views of the mountains and valleys. The epic views are truly endless from the rooftop deck or with a stroll along the mountain boardwalk.

When in Banff I recommend a visit and tour of this iconic "Castle of the Rockies." Amazing inside and out. With the Bow River flowing below and the river's falls just to the right in this frame and Mt. Rundle rising majestically across the valley there is much to admire around it as well.

"The hotel opened in 1888 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, as one of the earliest of Canada's grand railway hotels. The original wooden structure burnt down in 1926, the replacement structure was made up of a steel frame, clad in Rundle limestone.

The Banff Springs Hotel includes 757 guest rooms and suites spread throughout the hotel property plus 12 restaurants."

So windy on the summit ridge of Sulphur Mountain, the scenery was breathtaking. Planned to stay couple of hours there, chatted with staff, they said the sunset would be very beautiful. But the tripod was in the car, so asked the staff if I could get tripod for taking sunset photos, that means I need to take cable cars to go down and go up again. They were so kind to offer “Yes”! Here is the sunset to overlook town of Banff.

An Ewe and her Lamb. We stopped along beautiful Bow Valley Parkway to enjoy the scenery when a pair of Ewe suddenly showed up with their two juveniles. Here's the photo of one female with her cub. Banff, Alberta, Canada.
