Burnt out buses after arson attack - this was intended to disrupt BAPCO, as these buses were used to collect the Bahraini workers - the transport department worked all the weekend and rebuilt the outside of most of these wrecks and were able to collect the workers as usual - but the insides were still a wreck - look at one of the shots taken inside the bus

As the past recedes further into the past everyday, what remains of it are mere fragments of memory. The events fail to preserve the details and lose but a few figures, a few names, a few faded colors... just like a low resolution faded picture of an old photo album. Despite this fact we love our sweet past and long for it calling this nostalgia.

Boeing 777F Polar Air Cargo
Registration: N777SA
Type: 777-FZB
Engines: 2 × GE GE90-110B1
Serial Number: 37989
First flight: Apr 8, 2012
Despite the fact that the title indicates the ownership of the aircraft of the American cargo airline Polar Air Cargo, we will talk here about the airline Southern Air, whose logo adorns the side of the aircraft.
Formed in 1999, Southern Air was an international cargo airline based in Florence, Kentucky. Southern Air's fleet consisted entirely of Boeing cargo planes, including the Boeing 777F. The airline provided various services such as long-term ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance) and commercial charters. In early 2011, Southern Air signed a multi-year contract with DHL Aviation. With its Boeing 777F aircraft, the airline was able to expand the range of DHL express parcel delivery services at night through centers in Cincinnati, Bahrain, Hong Kong and Anchorage.
In 2016, Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings acquired Southern Air, making it its subsidiary. Five years later, at the end of 2021, the airline was fully integrated into Atlas Air, ending the history of its separate operations. And the Boeing 777F cargo planes of the former Southern Air were transferred to the fleet of Polar Air, whose parent company is also Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, and DHL owns 49% of its shares. Therefore, the planes continued to fly on their usual routes, transporting parcels and cargo around the world. The aircrafts retained the DHL partner's livery, and the logo of the former operator was removed.
But one of these planes still has its former appearance with a large logo on board of Southern Air.

The Bahrain World Trade Center - been meaning to photograph this building for a while, but something always comes up, so I braved the rain and wind and finally took it.
A poem written by Hamed Zaid for Bahrain <3!
Here's the history bit......
In the early 1920s the British in Bahrain were concerned to secure the political stability of the island. In 1923 Shaikh Isa, nearly 80 years old, was induced to hand over power to his son Shaikh Hamad. After a succession of Political Agents it became apparent that a permanent administrator should be found who would ensure some political continuity. Shaikh Hamad agreed to appoint a Personal Adviser employed by himself and not by the British Government, who would help him to modernise the state.
There were no readily available candidates and the post was advertised in The Times in August 1925. It is not known how many applicants there were, but after interviews Charles Dalrymple Belgrave was appointed with an annual salary of £720 - enough for him to get married on. During the war he had served with the Frontiers Districts Administration Camel Corps and had spent two years in the oasis of Siwa. At the time of his appointment he was on leave after two years in the Colonial Service in Tanganyika. He brushed up his Arabic at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and arrived in Bahrain in March 1926, to remain there until 1957.
