The Patron of the Society is His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and the President is His Excellency Sheikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Bahrain Ambassador to the UK.
The Tree of Life in Bahrain is an approximately 400 year-old, 9.75 meters high Prosopis cineraria tree. The tree stands on top of a 7.6 meters high sandy tell that formed around a 500-year-old fortress. Being the only tree growing in the area, the tree is a local tourist attraction and is visited by approximately 50,000 tourists every year. Since October 2010, archaeologists have unearthed pottery and other artifacts in the vicinity of the tree some of which may date back to the Dilmun civilization. (Photo Credit: UN Bahrain/UNIC Manama)
