A slight modification to the 63' International Backhoe.

This was a hole dad was digging to repair a crushed 15 inch tile. That repair was no fun. I had to wade in the mud.

Watch out for that bucket! I remember the hired hand we used to have working here. The bucket just about hit him one time, and he saw it coming. I've never seen him react so fast. He was a big guy and he just dropped flat in a blink of an eye. It probably kept him from having a "bonk" on the head.

At the very back of the parking lot on the north side of Little Lake Auto Parts, a small sign advertises backhoe services.

This machine was driven down Mahoning Avenue past that abandoned building and down the road.

Backhoe stalled and lost it's brakes on a steep hill. Ran out of control down the hill, across two streets and a green belt before crashing into a detached garage. Luckily, no humans, animals or backhoes were hurt in the incident

The company that did the "W" to the former dam site apparently did it for free. Other towns are considering doing the same thing, and I guess they wanted to use Dimondale as an example of what could be.

Jim Whitman (standing) and Ron Catalbiano (in backhoe) are getting the 'elevator pit' ready to receive the concrete as the BHS stadium construction gets under way. When asked when the stadium would be finished, Whitman only answered, 'Not today ...'

A Backhoe Rodeo was held in downtown Greenville to test competitor's ability to precisely control digging machines in a variety of movement and placement tasks. Here, the goal is to drop the pin into each cone in the minimum time. It's harder than it looks when the pin is swinging at the end of the chain!

I can never take artistic photos, no matter how hard I try.

Detail from a step on an "L" series loader/backhoe

This was a fun photo to take... we had some excavation done at our house and I went out to try to take some photos of the equipment. I took an HDR image of this backhoe and really enjoyed processing it to make the hard work it does stand out- scratches and such. I also used Nik Silver Efex Pro to get the black and white look I wanted, and some Topaz DeNoise (another program I'm testing) to remove noise from the sky. Noiseware Professional wouldn't quite do it, I'm afraid. The crew tolerated me good-naturedly. Maybe they will understand it better after seeing this photo!
