I so want to be back on the East Coast shooting seascapes! I've not got out much with my camera of late, so heres another shot from when we were over there a few weeks ago. At Whitley Bay, again.
Decided a moody mono conversion would take the shot in a different direction than the others i've posted so far.

On this backyard there is a house with five rooms, built by the same landlord.
So there is a house (30A) in the back garden of the house aside (30) that has yet another house in the back garden (30B?)

first, you can see that it's not all that straight (thanks, mom and dad).
but the main problem is the one vertebrae that's kinda outsized by its neighbors. in the grand scheme of things, i was very, very lucky this wasn't worse. then again, it IS worse than it used to be, because of a moment of stupidity on my part.
heilein was right: there's no cure for stupidity, and no appeal.
It's feeling like spring again with the mosquitoes not attacking me again. So here is more Prunus Okame to celebrate :D

Taken during our daytrip to the Isle of Canna, which is located a couple of hours sail off the West coast of Scotland. Along with it's major neighbouring islands Muck, Eigg and Rum, the Isle of Canna and it's partially attached neighbour Sanday make up the group of Scottish islands known as the "small isles".
Canna was one of the first locations added to our holiday plan for May of this year, as the island is one of the two locations out on Scotlands islands that my ancestors came from (only a couple of generations ago). Once the boat had docked and we set foot on the island, much like we've felt on the Outer Hebrides, it definitely felt like I was back home, myself and Mireille will most certainly be back to visit again!
The Isle of Canna is the westernmost of the small isles which themselves are part of the inner hebrides. The Isles of Canna and Sanday were left by their previous owner, John Lorne Campbell to the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) in 1981. A massive thanks to the residents and NTS team on the island for our enjoyable visit in May, and we look forward to seeing you all again to find out more of the family history!

This former duck-hunting reserve of the Maharajas is one of the major wintering areas for large numbers of aquatic birds from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, China and Siberia. Some 364 species of birds, including the rare Siberian crane, have been recorded in the park.
The olive-backed sunbird (Cinnyris jugularis), also known as the yellow-bellied sunbird, is a species of sunbird found from Southern Asia to Australia.
One of the twins was perfect - still has his original box and certificate. The other had some hard times and was missing pieces, had some loose parts, lost his box, etc. Which is which?

Note that this species has only three toes on each foot, an adaptation it shares with the related Three-toed Woodpecker.
It is thought that the absence of the hallux (hind toe) enables these birds to reach back farther with each blow, giving more force as they chisel into a tree.

The Pink-backed Pelican (Pelecanus rufescens) is a member of the pelican family of birds. It is a resident breeder in Africa, southern Arabia and apparently extinct in Madagascar in swamps and shallow lakes.
The nest is a large heap of sticks, into which 2-3 large white eggs are laid. The chicks feed by plunging their heads deep into the adult’s pouch and taking the partially digested regurgitated fish.
This is a small pelican, but the wingspan is still around 2.4 m (7.9 ft) with an average weight of 5.5 kg (12 lbs). It is much smaller and duller than the Great White Pelican. The plumage is grey and white, with a pink back. The top of the bill is yellow and the pouch is usually greyish. Breeding adults have long feather plumes on the head.
Food is usually fish and amphibians and is usually obtained by fishing in groups.
