Always great to go back to my favourite place in Thailand, Khao Lak. The area has a different feel to other tourist destinations in Thailand and manages to keep things relaxed without the need to grow dreadlocks, throw away your shoes and live on Banana pancakes! Khao Lak has a bit of everything, mountains and waterfalls, great beaches, day trips to stunning tropical islands, lakes, and jungle trekking. Accommodation ranges from the very reasonable guest houses to ultra luxurious hotels like the Sarojin (my favourite spot for breakfast). If you're tired of the standard backpacker trail and want something quieter with all the scenery you can dream off - Khao Lak.
Chiew Lan lake is about a 1.5 hour drive from Khao Lak and is fairly easy to get to. It's a bit too far to go by motorbike, but the trekking routes can easily be done by day trip from Khao Lak by motorbike. I recommend renting a car and then driving to the lake, where you can then hire a boat for a reasonable price. They will usually take you to the 'Guilin of Thailand' which is a rock formation coming out of the water, and then to a little spot with huts floating on the water. Highly recommended!

I'm back from visiting my baby and her beau in San Diego. Had a lovely time and even met a fellow Flickerite, the humorous and talented David .
Jasmine and I met David for coffee the day before I left. Thanks David for suggesting it. You are a kind soul. So lovely to meet you.

E71 brought me back to Ilford, and is seen complete with AL code! This was actually from its second employment as it was new to SW for the 24. This third chapter of its career sees it nominally allocated for school work at River Road, though appearances on routes such as this, 101 and 147 are common. 27.10.19.

Just got back from London .... and enjoyed our trip.
However, last Saturday it was really too crowded. Some 2 million people were shopping in Oxford Street and Regent Street, spending some 200 million Pounds !!!!!
You can imagine how good it was to leave the crowd and enjoy a more quiet and greener part of the city.
