This is why I refer to myself as "an indoor model." I break in the great outdoors. (This is after a couple of hours of lawn work.)

Took this picture as I past in the hall.
Another overcast day, I did my best :) I had a visit from a friend from the UK. We had success with the woodpeckers, seeing Middle and Great Spotted, White-backed, Grey-headed, Black and Syrian (from my balcony). We heard Green calling. The Hawfinch didn't come for the first day but it did on the second. We were fortunate as we only had two days to visit the hide. Like I previously stated the weather was overcast......again.......this weekend is another wash out :(

It was a dark dreary day today with a cold front coming through.
I went out in the back yard to let my killer Bull dog do her thing.
When I stepped outside I noticed the trees were full of
Turkey Vultures. I counted nine all together, with one of them perched on the back of the bench on my dock.
I let Silky take care of business, and took her back inside.
I grabbed my camera, went back outside, and they were still there. I walked within 30 feet or less of the one on my my dock and took a few shots. This being one of them.
There was a small fish kill with the last cold front that came through and I think they were there to snack on the dead fish.

The U.S. government has asked us for something we simply do not have, and something we consider too dangerous to create,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said. “They have asked us to build a backdoor to the iPhone. Specifically, the FBI wants us to make a new version of the iPhone operating system, circumventing several important security features, and install it on an iPhone recovered during the investigation. In the wrong hands, this software – which does not exist today – would have the potential to unlock any iPhone in someone’s physical possession.”
Apple’s position on the matter is clear: acquiescing to the FBI’s request to develop a tool to unlock an iPhone, even if it belonged to a murderous terrorist, would set a dangerous precedent and slippery slope.
China is watching the dispute closely. Analysts say the Chinese government does take cues from United States when it comes to encryption regulations, and that it would most likely demand that multinational companies provide accommodations similar to those in United States.
Last year, Beijing backed off several proposals that would have mandated that foreign firms providing encryption keys for devices sold in China after heavy pressure from foreign trade groups. …
While it’s still not clear how the law might be carried out, it is possible a push from American law enforcement agencies to unlock iPhones would embolden Beijing to demand the same. China would also most likely push to acquire any technology that would allow it to unlock iPhones.

Never mind the FBI in the UK, GCHQ have been monitoring your communications for years, they didn't even bother to ask.
Edward Snowden, former intelligence contractor told the BBC's Panorama that UK intelligence agency GCHQ had the power to hack into phones without their owners' knowledge.
The UK government declined to comment.

Thank-you so much for everyones support over the past few months as I struggled to find out what was wrong with me knee! After having an ultrasound, 2 x-rays, MRI, and seeing a few different doctors I finally found Dr. Watson. He performed athroscopic knee surgery on me today and discovered that my knee cartilage had been damaged and was extremely loose. He told me that even the suction from the surgery could have pulled it out. I had the damaged part removed, and am well on my way to making a recovery. I should be able to start walking around a little in a few days, and once I am fully healed should be able to kneel and run once again! I am so happy that the problem is finally diagnosed after 4 months of unknowns.
The dogs are going to make recovery so much easier. Just having them there, cuddling with me and staying close.

This vulture is part of a flock at Banham Zoo in Norfolk.
The white-backed vulture is the most common vulture species in the continent of Africa.
The vulture is a typical vulture, with only down feathers on the head and neck, very broad wings and short tail feathers. It has a white neck ruff. The adult's whitish back contrasts with the otherwise dark plumage. Juveniles are largely dark. This is a medium sized vulture, weighing 9 lb. 5 oz. to 15 lb. 14.5 oz. (4.2 to 7.2 kg). It is 2 ft. 7 in. to 3 ft. 3 in. (78 cm to 1 m) long and has a 6 ft. 5 in. to 7 ft. 5 in. (1.96 to 2.25 m) wingspan.
The white-backed vulture occurs from Senegal, Gambia and Mali in the west, throughout the Sahel region to Ethiopia and Somalia in the east, through East Africa into Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa in the south. It is the most widespread and common vulture in Africa with an estimated range of 9,400,000 sq. miles (24,300,000 km2) but has undergone rapid population declines in recent years.
White-backed vultures are scavengers with a high level of specialization on carrion. Their primary food sources are the carcasses of large, grazing animals found the wooded savannahs where it lives. This includes warthogs, zebras, gazelles, ostriches and even livestock. Their beaks are medium sized and not adapted for tearing through tough skin, so they are limited to eating soft tissues, using a pulling feeding tactic.
White-backed vultures circle through the sky in search of freshly dead animals, often following other scavenger birds and mammalian carnivores to find it. Once a carcass is found, they will begin wheeling in the sky, signalling their discovery to other vultures. White-backed vultures feed in groups and are often one of the first vulture species to arrive at a carcass. This leads to this species having a high dominance at carcasses in comparison to other vulture species such as white-headed, hooded, and Egyptian vultures. After feeding, white-backed vultures often rest with their wings spread and their backs facing the sun, as they have gorged themselves so much they can no longer fly. A 100 or so white-backed vultures can rip all the flesh off a 100 lb. (45.5 kg) carcass in about three minutes
White-backed vultures' nest a loose colony of between 2 and 13 birds. They typically choose tall trees near rivers nan streams and show strong a preference for Acacia species. The nests are large, around 36 in. (1m) in diameter, and are made of large sticks and lined with leaves and grasses. The bird breeds in the dry season. Females lay a single which is incubated for around 56 days. Both parents will then take part in feeding and caring for the chick until it fledges and leaves the nest after about 4 months. The young vulture could have a lifespan of 19 years.
White-backed vultures face many threats from habitat loss, changes in agricultural practices, declines in hoofed wildlife populations, being hunted for traditional medicine use, illegal capture for the live trade, drowning in farm reservoirs, collisions with and electrocution from electricity pylons, persecution and poisoning. They have suffered a dramatic decline in their numbers with their population now down to 270,000 individuals and as a result, their conservation status is 'Critically Endangered'.
26027 rumbles across the Forth Bridge with a southbound ballast train on 28th November 1984. This picture was taken during an official visit to the bridge arranged by the members of the Newcastle University Railway Society. Such visits were permitted at this time and on this occasion the main instruction from our guide was to "stand well back lads" whenever a train approached. There was very limited clearance as can be seen from this picture and, on the day in question, there was a strong and freezing wind gusting to 30-40 mph!!
