At the height of autumn, the autumn leaves are beautiful, but where I live, the red color becomes even more noticeable after it gets colder.
My titles and captions are mostly arranged or quoted from the uploaded songs.
A small but beautiful pine and birch forest where I often recharge my batteries. And yesterday, I saw a deer here for the second time. Unfortunately, I had my wide-angle lens on this time—or perhaps fortunately, because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to take this lovely forest photo with the deer in the background.
I think everything happens for a reason. :-)
Ein kleiner aber wunderschöner Kiefern- und Birkenwald in dem ich öfter meine "Batterien" auflade. Und zum zweiten Mal sah ich hier gestern ein Reh. Leider hatte ich diesmal mein Weiwinkelobjektiv drauf - oder vielleicht auch zum Glück, denn sonst wäre mir dieses schöne Waldfoto mit dem Reh im Hintergrund nicht gelungen.
Ich denke, alles hat seinen Sinn. :-)

Not the most detailed shot, but still I chose this one to end this series of American Avocets for two reasons. First I think the flying away symbolizes the end, and secondly it is a stepping stone to the next set of shots I will post that were taken the same evening under some really great light.
Earlier when I saw that the light may be nice, I quickly headed to Elk Island in hopes of getting a particular shot that I had imagined. The image that I was going to try to get would have been a backlit shot looking into the sun in order to get a silhouette type shot with rim lighting accentuating an outline of their graceful curves. Not asking for too much, eh? Well it never happened. The beach still had many visitors and there were only two Avocets, both of which were packing it in for the night and flew away upon my arrival near the beach allowing me only a couple of quick unprepared shots, this being the best of them. I hung around a short while thinking they may return, but they didn't, likely leaving to join the rest of their friends who were no where in sight.
Not the magical image I had imagined, but all in all I am still quite happy with it, plus the outing furnished me with a bunch of other shots that I am thrilled with. So often the case, plan for one thing and come home with something completely different.
Seeing a patch of blue sky in the distance, I drove west to see if I could get this train in sun. At Lake Benton I was waiting to see if the sun would come out, and eventually it did. Excited, I could hear the train coming, I couldn't wait to get golden storm light with this train. Unfortunately, my hopes and dreams were dashed once the train appeared, the sun was completely gone a couple minutes, before once again behind the clouds. Easily one of the most frustrating moments I've had when railfanning. I guess on the bright side, an RCPE in daylight at Lake Benton is a blessing in itself, but to think what could have been...
This is my first decor pic since forever, but I really loved these colors for Christmas and actually felt a bit inspired. So, here's a mix of some of my favorite holiday items, new & old. I hope you all enjoy the holiday season if you celebrate!

Day Twelve in a series containing at least twelve days.
On our way back to school from private speech therapy. Rob hadn't been to see Carey since August, as I figured he had enough on his mind with the mainstreaming and all. But now, now we go. He was so freaking happy to be there today, too.
Here, he was getting slightly annoyed with me saying, "Hey, Rob, look now," a dozen times while trying to get a decent shot of us both.
But we are just too fabulous to be captured by the camera, you know.
A blowy but enjoyable jaunt along Rylstone edge, which faces west and usually has good light in the evenings. The wall makes a nice frame for the rolling hills of Craven, and the sky gave this moment of drama before the inevitable Lancashire cloud came to spoil the show!...no photoshop sliders were harmed in making this photograph.
Migration is underway - - but certainly a little later this year due to our harsh winter - - many local ponds are still frozen. This is a picture from late March last year - - I had been shooting the migrating ducks for awhile already in local ponds - - currently Lake Ontario is one of the few games in town.
...but if you try sometime you find you get what you need :)
this is the song that was playing in the car while I attempted this shot which I knew that I had flubbed but later it ended up being one of my favourite images, of course I've played with :)

So many want to see the full car, so here it is.
One of 12 remaining Horch 853s, this '37 Sport Cabriolet by Glaser is in exquisite condition.Although not nearly as well known outside of Germany as the Mercedes, which was it's big rival in the 30s, Horch (Hermann Goering had 5) was just as exclusive as the big Mercedes, and was the Flagship for the AutoUnion group of 4 (thus the 4 circles, which included Audi, DKW and Wanderer.)
August Horch established the company on November 14, 1899 in the district of Ehrenfeld, Cologne. August Horch had previously worked as a production manager for Karl Benz. On May 10, 1904 he founded the Horch & Cie. Motorwagenwerke AG, a joint-stock company in Zwickau (Kingdom of Saxony). The city of Zwickau was the capital of the South Western Saxon County and one of Saxony's industrial centres at that time.
After troubles with the Horch chief financial officer, August Horch founded a second company on 16 July 1909, the August Horch Automobilwerke in Zwickau. He had to rename the company because Horch was already a registered brand and he did not hold the rights to his own name. On 25 April 1910 the name Audi Automobilwerke was entered in the company's register. Audi is the Latin translation of horch, from the German verb "horchen", which means "listen!" (compare English "hark"). Very clever to keep his name by using the Latin version, the Audi name was proposed by a son of one of Horch's business partners from Zwickau.
In 1932 both companies from Zwickau (Horch and Audi) merged with the DKW brand and the Wanderer car-production facilities to become the Auto Union corporation of Saxony. The Silver Arrow racing cars of the Auto Union racing team in Zwickau—developed by Ferdinand Porsche and Robert Eberan von Eberhorst, and driven by Bernd Rosemeyer, Hans Stuck, Tazio Nuvolari and Ernst von Delius—became known the world over in the 1930s.
The companies facilities and records, including design information was almost completely destroyed in WW II, making restoration of any of the pre-war cars very difficult. Audi, and DKW were resurrected after the war with DKW with it's eccentric noisy 2 and later 3 cylinder two stroke engines, expiring in the early '60s, leaving the Audi as the last 'man' standing to carry on August's vision. Ironically, Auto Union came under Daimler-Benz ownership in 1957 and fortunately for Audi, was purchased by the Volkswagen Group in 1964, who needed a flagship car, and Autounion's 4 circles were given new life. But they never reached the heights of the pre-war Horch for sheer, in your face elegance.

Entirely unintendedly, really. I think combining a chili pepper with a flame of sorts is a little cliché. But why is there smoke swirling around behind this dried Trinidad Scorpion pepper when I hadn't placed a smoke or fire source behind the chili, neither a lit candle nor a match to be hazardously lit (finger scorching included) just in time for the focus stacking? At first, I had put my go-to tool for backlit scenes behind the Scorpion, the small "Ledlenser" flashlight, but for the fairly small peppers in the bag its diameter was just a tad too big so I either had an unpleasant halo around my subject or a light leakage under the chili no matter how I placed it.
Time for plan B which brings us to the unintended part: I also have a very small, octagonal-shaped, extremely bright, and powerful "TrustFire Mini-X" key-ring flashlight that proved to be slim enough to disappear behind the chili. So I leaned the chili against the flashlight, set the latter to non-stop light, and then set the camera. When that was done, I looked at the display and saw a weird blue streak behind the pepper. "This is one bright flashlight!", I thought, assuming what I saw was a light beam. But then I noticed that the "beam" moved, and all of a sudden the air was also filled with a certain spiciness that started to scratch my throat... Well, this flashlight is not only very bright but it also gets very hot very quickly when it's constantly on – and the dried Scorpion's skin was (still is, I should add) wafer-thin. So it seems that the flashlight had started to scorch the dried chili. I quickly pressed the shutter button, nervously watching that thin "smoke ghost" move around while the camera recorded 30 images (15 ORFs and 15 JPGs; the JPGs are combined to a final stacking image in-camera), and immediately switched off the flashlight and removed the chili once the stacking was done. Phew ;) An unintended, unexpected, somewhat cliché, but definitely nice "accident".
I think there was no real danger that the chili might have been set on fire during the short focus stacking time, and the single swirl of smoke also was very thin. Helicon Focus, however, combined all of the 15 different ORF "smoke ghosts" into a more voluminous set of streaks which I think looked good so I left it that way. Size of the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion pepper: 3 cm x 2,5 cm / 1,18 x 0,98 inches.

Although very small in size, this afternoon heat thunderstorm cell, which is north-east of the Fossalon village, managed to enliven the end of a torrid day, during the first (in the next few days there will be the fourth!) African heat wave.
The cell generated humidity around itself, rapidly transforming a completely clear sky into one chaotically clouded by various types of clouds at different heights where the only rain waterfall seems to put some order.
The plain of Fossalon di Grado, once marshy, then reclaimed (except for the poultry oasis and fishing valley of the "Val Cavanata") extends to the east of the Grado and Marano lagoon, to the west of the Gulf of Trieste and is slightly below sea level, protected by an embankment near the coast; however, the embankment interferes with the breezes and often this area turns into a furnace with still air, but...
...The fact that the airspace is vast and that tourists (of course 😂) go elsewhere, makes this area fascinating and very useful for my interests!

A bird that we see at home on a daily basis but somehow one that looks more exotic when encountered abroad. In this case in the waterfront gardens in Qatar.
I photographed this Mama Grizzly and her three cubs during a brief road trip this past summer through rural Alberta, Canada.
To understate the case, it's not a great photograph; each of its subjects is out of focus, for example. But I decided to post it anyway, hoping that this photographic glimpse into the wonderful world of nature would bring joy to some.
Words fail when one tries to describe the grace and power and beauty of these animals. As Mama ambled effortlessly along, cubs in tow, I realized I would have had to run full speed just to keep up.
