But the evening was still like so many lately, far and wide no client was to be seen and I decided to make my way into town, even if the amount of linden dollars in my pocket was dwindling by leaps and bounds.
Maybe the news in the newspapers would give me a hint where I could find new clients, but even the kiosk on the corner was no longer what it used to be, what you could still find there was no less interesting but still far removed from the latest news.

The bird seemed OK with my presence but checked repeatedly to make sure I didn't even think about exiting my vehicle. Male American Kestrel at Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge.
...but tomorrow it will rain! This is England after all! The temperature reached 36.7C (98F) - the hottest July day ever recorded in UK.

It was the most beautiful summer morning on the lake. Couldn't believe he let me this close from my kayak.
I want to wish all Americans a Happy Thanksgiving and what better way to do it than with a bald eagle who just finished eating a big fish. My American friends have shown me the most kindness on this Flickr journey, and they say us Canadians are nice, but I think we have nothing on them. Appreciate you! ❤️

Hard to believe but this was my first blue BCOL C44-9W leading on a train. In all of my years of photographing trains, this was one of the most elusive units for me to capture leading.
Today was a pretty crummy day for myself and some time trackside was needed to clear the mind and BCOL 4645 did a pretty decent job at helping with that.

This Chihuahua stood his ground when a much bigger dog came over to merely say hello. They may be small but they are mighty, and his bark apparently was worse than his bite.

It's obvious where this is, halfway between London and Edinburgh on the ECML, all's not what it seems though, with artistic licence I've flipped both the sign and the LNER logo on the Azuma.

Small but beautiful Komyo Falls is located at the base of Mt. Izumigatake , Sendai.
I visited there after so long.
I felt fear to encounter the bears.
This day the desire overcame the fear.
I took some photos and I got into the car quickly.
I introduce some aspects of the falls.
光明の滝は仙台の泉ヶ岳の麓にある小さいですが美しい滝です。
久しぶりに訪れました。
熊と出会うのが怖かったのです。
この日は、撮りたいという気持ちが勝りました。
何枚かの写真を撮って、急いで車に乗り込みました。

The branches of this apple tree prove it is old, but it is still full of buds. soon the leaves and flowers will come ...
The pollard tree in the background is old as well, which gives it all the more character.
The daffodils are already flowering - early this year.
Still bad weather and it´s not about laziness anymore but who´d be walking with camera in the rain? :-)

It is not a church but a monument in the shape of a pyramid built in 1967 in front of Mont-Cenis lake to replace an old priory swallowed up by the artificial lake.
This structure houses the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Chapel and a museum of the Mont-Cenis Pyramid, which traces the history of the crossing of the Alps, the place, the local activity, and the history of the Mont-Cenis dam.

Ce n'est pas une église mais un monument en forme de pyramide construit en 1967 devant le lac du Mont-Cenis pour remplacer un ancien prieuré englouti par le lac artificiel.

A very Happy Thanksgiving to all

I know if I'd been wiser this would never have occurred
but I wallowed in my blindness so it's plain that I deserve
for the sin of self-indulgence when the truth was writ quite clear
I must spend my life amongst the dead who spend their lives in fear

I was thrilled to see every bee-eater but blue-throated during my trip. They are a group of birds I have been dying to see for such a long time due to their beauty. This guy was seen on a boat trip out to the sandspit in Phetchaburi where we saw Malaysian Plovers and white-faced Kentish Plovers.
All the ornithology books describe Kingfishers as common and widely seen. Personally you need a lot of patience, but sometimes you can get lucky
This is Reynisfjara beach - Iceland. Reynisfjara is a world-famous black-sand beach found on the South Coast of Iceland, which features basalt columns and the dramatic Reynisdrangar sea stacks. It's beside Vik i Myrdal, the southernmost village on the mainland of Iceland.
The sand at Reynisfjara is black due to its volcanic origins. Formed from cooled lava that flowed into the ocean during eruptions, the lava fragments were broken down over time by the powerful waves, creating the distinctive black sand beach we see today.
The beach is also known to be dangerous due to 'sneaker' waves but despite this (and the most horrendous winds when we visited) we encountered this somewhat excited tourist who asked my wife to film him before proceeding to dance around without a care in the world! And no this isnt a colour splash shot - everything was grey apart from my wifes coat.
Strange old weather we've been having here this week. Saturday, the day before this picture was taken, we had a pleasant -17c as a night time temperature. Sunday morning when I ventured out to a lake to get this shot I stood in -10c conditions waiting for the sunrise to appear. Sadly this was the best it got. Monday we had an almighty snow storm come through only for it to turn +4c and rain. Lots of rain. Today we're back at -6c.
Anyway I was glad it was cold enough for the lake to freeze over so that someone could toss a rock out when the ice was a little thinner and then freeze over into this pattern. Not often I get to walk on water, I didn't go too far out - probably 10 meters from the edge but still - I walked on water!

This power line has featured in many earlier shots but not from this aspect though. Today a far different view taken from the highest point 308m (1,010ft) on the surrounding hillsides above my home in the village of Betws yn Rhos which lies directly beneath the third and fourth much smaller pylons in the middle right distance.
The distant mountain sees the start of the Clwydian Range over which 'Offas Dyke' continues right on its long route South after starting at the Coastal resort of Prestatyn on the North Wales Coast lying directly beneath that mountain.
Pictured starting to the left in the distant haze, located off the North Wales Coast, is part of the Gwynt-y-Mor (English Translation: Sea Wind) 576 Megawatt Offshore Wind Farm. It's the fourth largest wind farm in the world. There are now well over 160 wind turbines of 150m (490ft) tip height above sea level as permission has recently been granted to install even more closer inshore. It began operating in June 2015.
By enlarging the image you'll have a clearer view of the wind farm and all those sheep too! Must be over 100!

A small nameless deep-forest waterfall beckoned us with its rushing sound, and did not disappoint. Near Picton, South Island, New Zealand.
Definitely not as frosty as yesterday's Finch, but I think the pose tells the story here with it's puffed up look, and how it's head appears to be sunken into the feathers of it's chest. I am sure it is doing what it can to conserve it's body heat.
The warm weather has arrived here. Last night the temperature soared about 12 degrees in an hour or two. It was like a switch was turned on. Along with that warming we got just a bit of freezing rain which I am not thrilled about, but it is nice to see the temperature moderate as it as.
I think the next time I see this dove it will have a completely different pose for me.
