Academia Brasileira de Literatura de Cordel - Brazilian Academy of String Literature.
Cordel Literature or String Literature are popular and inexpensively printed booklets or pamphlets containing folk novels, poems and songs. They are produced and sold in street markets and by street vendors in Brazil, principally in the Northeast. They are so named because they are hung from strings to display them to potential clients.
Usually produced in black and white, in quarto format, cordel chapbooks are usually illustrated with woodcuts.
Cordel literature forms one of the least altered continuations of the Western traditions of popular literature, such as chapbooks, and popular prints.
The cordel literature found its zenith in the decades of 20s and 30s, with the popular legend created by the cangaceiros of Lampião, a band of outlaws and bandolier bandits who terrorized the region for almost 20 years. The War of Canudos, a military conflict in the state of Bahia, 1896-1897, has been also a frequent theme of cordel literature, due to its epic dimensions and importance for the history of the Northeast backlands.

One of the oldest parts of Lagos is the Campos quarter, known for being the home of freed saves who returned to Africa from Brazil, often with Portguese names and a Christian religion. There are some (but a declining number) of buildings influenced by Portguese Brazilian architecture. The area is now a lively, crowded, commercial part of town and I suspect many more of the old areas will be redeveloped.

The Brazilica Festival is the largest celebration of Brazilian culture in the United Kingdom that has been held annually in Liverpool, England since July 2008. It is produced by the Liverpool Carnival Company, an organisation that has operated as a registered charity since 2007. The festival began during Liverpool's reign as European Capital of Culture in 2008 when a Rio-style Carnival Parade swept through the streets of the city. In its current format, the festival consists of a week-long celebration of Brazilian culture including music, art, food, film and dance events that take place at indoor venues across the city which build up to an outdoor city centre carnival street party that takes place in Williamson Square and samba carnival parade.
The Liverpool Samba School was set up by husband and wife creative team Roger and Maeve Morris in 1995. The school performed at the Rio Carnival in 2000 and wanted to bring a touch of the Carnival's magic to streets in their own city. In 2007, the creative team established the Liverpool Carnival Company with an aim of delivering a Carnival event the following year.

Incrível como tudo na vida, como uma simples música (aliás, ótima música), se encaixa perfeitamente! Andei ausente, por momentos turbulentos, onde não conseguia parar pra fazer nada, nem fotografar que considero um vício meu! Quando finalmente parei, escutei esse refrão, que não saiu da minha cabeça e me fez ir em busca de toda a minha essência! The City of Manaus continues with the vaccination campaign of health professionals from the day January 19th. Health professionals are receiving the Coronavac immunizer (produced in partnership with Sinovac, from China, with the Butantan Institute, from Brazil).
The state of Amazonas experienced, between January and February this year, a collapse of its health system caused by the high number of infections by covid-19, the lack of beds and oxygen in the health units.

Raising the self-esteem of our children is an important aim for us at Hummingbird and is usually accomplished through the children's regular participation in the artistic, cultural and sporting activities offered at our community prevention centres. Preventing kids from hitting the streets, drugs and crime is our main objective.
Living together for the entire weekend at our new home near the coast offers the children a unique opportunity and some very special moments; experiences they will probably cherish for the rest of their lives. The sheer beauty and aesthetics of our new home also plays an important role in raising the self-esteem of almost any underprivileged child who is fortunate enough to spend time there.
Last weekend's living-in experience was reserved for girls only and for most of them it was the first time spending nights away from home. Different to the boys of their age, our girls are extremely concerned about their appearance and personal aesthetics. It was therefore no surprise to me that they would enjoy to the full, the participation of our friend and neighbour, Andrea, who works as a beautician. Andrea spent the entire Saturday afternoon together with Ordalina, our artist and hairdresser, preparing the girls for an evening out to our local town, where they proudly paraded some of the qualities that make Brazilian girls become some of the most attractive women in the world.
