Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) (also referred to locally as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM)) is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer.
As well as providing a platform for breast cancer charities to raise awareness of their work and of the disease, BCAM is also a prime opportunity to remind women to be breast aware for earlier detection
We are all in need of hope, courage and determination to help battle breast cancer. This is for those that have lost someone very dear and also for those that are actively fighting this terrible disease. Everyone has been touched one way or the other by breast cancer. . . . . even my own mother who back then at the age of 78 was first diagnosed of breast cancer. My heart goes to all of you . . . Yes, these are my breasts. They are scarred due to operations to remove lumps, and I've been through many a needle biopsy, lumpectomy and mammogram.
Very luckily, I've always had the 'all clear', but I know many people including close family and friends that have not been as fortunate.
My breasts are still there because I check them regularly, and I know my GP would prefer me to say 'Hi, I'm worried about a slight change or small lump', than to have to treat me for full blown cancer.
If I can be so brave as to show a photo of my breasts on Flickr, than there is no reason why any woman in the world can't have the courage to show their doctor in private.
Girls/women, whatever you like to be called, If you're worried about any problems with your breasts, GO SEE A DOCTOR NOW BEFORE It's TOO LATE!

What a machine! The "Hawaii Mars" is one of two survivors, of just seven of these huge flying boats built between 1941 and 1948. After several years spent as transports for the U.S. Navy flying primarily out of Alameda and Honolulu, the Mars fleet was converted to firefighting tankers in Canada, a role in which they flew for decades. Coulson Aviation, headquartered elsewhere on Vancouver Island, was the last operator, and has now disposed of its two remaining aircraft - the "Hawaii Mars" here at YYJ Airport, and the "Philippine Mars" has been disassembled to be eventually put on display at the Pima Air and Space Museum in Arizona. Many thanks to the volunteers at the British Columbia Aviation Museum for giving me a tour of the inside!
