The Saturday night singing competition The Voice is leaving the BBC and heading for ITV.
Mark Linsey, acting director of BBC Television, confirmed today that the fifth series of the show, which starts in January will be the last one to be shown on the channel. The corporation did make a bid to...

My block for steampunk- a 6.5" x 3.5" seaturtle block. Each one will come with a piece of seaweed, unattached, so you can place it wherever you'd like it. And I can't guarantee a compass for everyone, due to how my fabric is cut, but I'm fussy-cutting to my best ability to try.
Was watching the dire #digitalbritain panel on getting uk participation up to the 90% level. Seems everyone just wants one of these, a (free) BBC micro updated for today as a netbook and national free wifi + accompanying media and education drive. It would be a start perhaps.
The newly renamed 'Western House' is now named after beloved BBC legend the late Sir Terry Wogan.
I had no idea this was on the cards, but just happened to notice as I was out and about getting my lunch earlier today.
I made my way to Blea Tarn this morning with the promise of sunlight and still conditions, courtesy of the Met Office's finest. My last four visits here this year had been crashed on the rocks of disappointing weather, but this time I was confident - the BBC said so and they never make mistakes (Child Protection issues an exception, obviously...).
Getting up this morning, there was a lack of stars over Morecambe and Lancaster, suggesting cloud, but as I made my way through Windermere and Ambleside, the cloud was clearing and I allowed myself a smug smile.
I wasn't smiling for long though, as pretty much as soon as I turned off for the Langdales, the cloud started banking up. Parking up, I headed down to the tarn and could see some lovely reflections, but nothing but rubbish flat light. Disappointment set in. "Have patience" I told myself. Then the breeze picked and the reflections disappeared. Bugger. To cut a long story short, I hung around for two hours, got a five minute window of reflections and packed it in. I did manage to see the sun attempting to poke out, just in time to warm me up as I trekked up that hill behind the NT car park, as I reckied a shot over looking the water, which was nice but annoyingly late.

BBC Television Centre being constructed in the late 1950's (in the distance is the White City Stadium used for the summer Olympics of 1908)
01/01/1959 © BBC
BBC Television Centre (sometimes abbreviated TVC or TC) in London is home to much of BBC television output and, since 1998, almost all of the corporation's national TV and radio news output by BBC News. Opened in 1960, the building is four miles west of Central London at Shepherd's Bush. It was one of the world's first purpose built buildings for television production and is one of the world's largest centres. It is recognisable (often as a backdrop) throughout many appearances in BBC programmes. The building also features a distinctive circular central block (often affectionately referred to by staff as the 'doughnut') around which are studios and offices. It was built as a circle so that when cables were laid from one studio to another, through the centre of the circle, the cabling distance between all studios was the same. In the centre of the main block is a statue designed by T.B.Huxley-Jones, of the Greek god of the sun, Helios, which is meant to symbolise the radiation of television light around the world. At the foot of this statue are two reclining figures, symbolising sound and vision, the components of television. copyright BBC
My rendition of Holmes and Watson from the hit BBC tv show, 'Sherlock'.
Very basic figures, not much else to say really. btw, I might not post anything for this next month, going on a trip. I'll still comment and such though.

Just one post tonight as this is rather special...
I was recently asked to write a guest blog for the BBC Springwatch webpage, following the selection of one of my images to go on their new office wall.(in the comments below) I don't usually post posts like this as 'public' but the brief was to write about me (which I find tricky!) and photography:
'' How you got into it, how you’ve developed as a photographer, what it means to you and what not''
I think I have managed to explain it, pop over for a read for the whole picture! www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/natureuk
(& yes, that last paragraph of the blog is to all of you who take the time to stop by and also to share what you get to see out there!)
