The Bass Rock, or simply the Bass, is an island in the outer part of the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland. Approximately 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) offshore, and 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) north-east of North Berwick, it is a steep-sided volcanic rock, 107 metres (351 ft) at its highest point, and is home to a large colony of gannets. The rock is currently uninhabited, but historically has been settled by an early Christian hermit, and later was the site of an important castle, which after the Commonwealth period was used as a prison. The island is in the ownership of Sir Hew Hamilton-Dalrymple, whose family acquired it in 1706, and before that belonged to the Lauder family for almost six centuries. The Bass Rock Lighthouse was constructed on the rock in 1902, and the remains of an ancient chapel survive.

ps. may be i need to add more :) before this photo, i spent a lot of time working with two other subjects without any satisfactory result. so in the end i just put this bass, which was on the shelf next to me, on silver reflector that i used for other things. then come two sb-800s. and then color gel. now you see this.

Lots to catch up here. I haven't played the bass guitar in over 10 years! I just love this groove. Practice practice practice!

One minute long exposure using my (flavour of the month)10 stop ND filter. It was really windy so this was the only image that didn't suffer from the tripod moving during the shot.

A lighthouse was constructed on the rock in 1902, and the remains of a chapel are located there. The Bass Rock features in numerous works of fiction, including Robert Stevenson's Catriona.

outside a massive Bass Pro Shop in Airdrie, AB. A bunch of rancher types watched it too. All they talked about was water. "There's no f#%king bass in Alberta and now no water neither...." — a quote that hung there in the parking lot. Alberta is under a prolonged 'dry spell'. It has no bass and only 2.2 per cent of Canada’s renewable fresh water.

The double bass is the largest and lowest-pitched bowed string instrument in the modern symphony orchestra. The double bass is the only modern bowed string instrument that is tuned in fourths (like a viol), rather than fifths. The instrument's exact lineage is still a matter of some debate, with scholars divided on whether the bass is derived from the viol or the violin family.
